stayed here with my husband for 5 nights, and the hosts are truly wonderful and warm people. You can ask them anything, and they make you feel just like at home. The location is quite remote, so you will need a scooter, but you are surrounded by nature and can constantly hear the sounds of birds, which is very peaceful. The bungalows are cozy and clean. There is also a small kitchen where you can use all the utensils and cook your own meals. There are friendly pets- dogs and cats arround. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for quet and relaxing stay in a beautiful location.

I absolutely LOVED Goodthing Hotel! I love that it’s a boutique hotel with just a couple of rooms, so unique and special. The room was huge and so nicely decorated. Location is also perfect, right at the center of Fisherman’s Village. Not to mention the ladies at the cafe, so nice and so welcoming! Wish I could extend my stay! Would recommend without a doubt :)

Our stay here was amazing. The location was secluded and beautiful (quite a climb up if you decide to walk it at any stage) our cabin was perfect the fans cooled it down and the bed was comfortable. The shower & toilets were nice and close and only having a cold shower was no problem as it was so warm out! The hosts were excellent, so kind and helpful for our entire stay and the food was absolutely incredible. We’ve been in Thailand for two weeks and the breakfasts & dinners here were better than we’ve had anywhere else!

This place really is a hidden gem. Fabulously modern but luxuriously comfortable. The grounds and pools are lovely, private access to beach via steps. Great swimming pools and sitting areas. I had a massage in a private area but open to hear the sound of the waves-really lovely. Only 5 rooms so staff incredibly attentive. Breakfast very nice, well cooked and made to order. Rooms all have sea view, own terrace but far enough apart to be unaware of other people. I would come back in a heartbeat

Property is in a secluded location in the forest, surrounded only by nature. There is a pool - amazing, super relaxing! The rooms are extremely clean and super spacious. The staff of the hotel is AMAZING - one of our group had a birthday during our stay and the staff surprised us with a cake and candles - it was really special. The person at reception, the manager of the hotel, the bartender (amazing cocktails) and all of the waiters were fabulous - so friendly and sooooo nice! This is really a gem in Koh Samui and if you’re wondering to book it - search no more and go ahead, you won’t be disappointed. Also, if you’re lucky in the morning you can hear the elephants from the nearby sanctuary.

The Beach Club was pristine and immaculate. Great views of the sea from the infinity pool however Bang Rak Beach is reasonably dirty. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, always willing to help. Rooms are beautiful and clean and the amenities are great. I wish I'd had more time, I would have stayed longer!

Palm Trees and Pristine Seas

One of Thailand’s most famous islands, Koh Samui (or Ko Samui) is a tropical paradise whose palm trees emerge from the pristine white sands at unbelievable angles, and whose offshore reefs make for great diving.

The most developed resort is Chaweng, though most bars and clubs are set back from the beautiful beach, so the views are still wonderful. Slightly less lively is Lamai, though its beach is no less impressive. Both of these resorts are home to a large number of Koh Samui hotels with private pools, a popular requirement of many visitors, despite the wonderfully warm waters.

Lipa Noi in the west faces Thailand’s east coast and has some beautiful sunsets, while the northern fishing village of Bo Phut is gaining in popularity. Nearby Mae Nam and Cheong Mon both have sweeping beaches that gently shelve into the sea, making them popular family choices.

Travellers don't go tot Koh Samui for its sights – but interesting attractions include the Big Buddha at Bangrak’s Wat Phra Yai temple, and the Wat Khunaram Ko Samui temple inland from Hua Thanon.

When booking at Anantara, we had high expectations, as one would for a five-star hotel. Thankfully, many aspects of our stay lived up to those expectations, and some even exceeded them. Arrival & Check-In: We were warmly welcomed by the soft-spoken and friendly staff, who offered us a comfortable place to sit and provided cold refreshments while we checked in. This was a wonderful first impression. Jenine, who assisted us, escorted us to our room with professionalism and care. Initial Room Experience: While settling into our room, I noticed a malfunction with the mosquito plug, which suddenly blew up. This incident understandably made me apprehensive about staying in the room. Thankfully, Jenine handled the situation with composure, promptly informing the management and ensuring the room was made unavailable for thorough inspection. She quickly arranged for a new room, making us feel reassured and cared for during what could have been a stressful situation. Service Excellence: The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Jenine went above and beyond, guiding us to restaurants, coordinating laundry requests, and organizing our airport shuttle. A special shoutout goes to Joy and the executive chef, who truly amazed us with their thoughtfulness. For our early morning flight, I requested a simple mango sticky rice and cappuccino as a to-go meal. To my surprise, they prepared four thoughtfully curated breakfast boxes, including my favorite Thai dishes like massaman curry and plain fried rice. This level of care and attention was far beyond what I expected. The crew near the beach also stood out for their approachability and attentiveness to guests’ needs, adding to the overall sense of hospitality. Similarly, the breakfast service team provided exceptional service, with Mint and Chiui standing out for their attentiveness and efficiency. The breakfast buffet itself deserves praise.

The hotel is exceptional in every aspect. The beach, having visited Lamai, Chaweng and fisherman’s was less crowded and the sand was clean and finer. The Pool Villa was everything we expected and more. The pool area was truly magical and not overcrowded, they have a 30min rule on empty beach beds which was enforced this was great as there was no mad dash to lay the towels at sunrise. However the best by far are its hotel staff, the reception team were always willing to help, housekeeping was detailed and thorough and no request was too much. However our holiday was made extra special by the kindness and service excellence provided by the pool and bar team. The high tempo energy of AOD, the very pleasant disposition of Pond, James, Noom and Rain, no request was too much they spent all day ensuring every single clients glass was full of cold water and reminded us of Happy hour. The friendliness of the restaurant staff cannot go without mention. Thank you to the Sala Hotel team for making us feel completely at home and making our stay so very special. Loved the weekly movies on the beach with free popcorn and the fire shows. We were blessed with a blood red moon a rare phenomenon, see the photo below.

A private pool at the house. Wonderful facilities. Amazing bed. Two luxurious pools and four excellent restaurants on the grounds. A nice private beach. And great snorkeling just a few meters in. All snorkeling gear is available. The breakfast offerings are amazing with both an excellent buffet and a wide variety of free breakfast offerings from the kitchen menu. Everything is well kept and beautiful. And two popular towns and beaches are just a short drive away, with free hotel shuttle service to and from there. Really the most amazing resort we’ve ever visited.

We got a free upgrade to pool access room which was nice. The pool is lovely and great for doing lengths if you like to swim. The beach is on the doorstep too and it's quiet. Food and cocktails are really nice too. The room is spacious and comfortable with a really nice rainfall showerhead. It's the second time I've stayed here, it's amazing. View is amazing, room is amazing. The level of service is like a 5 star hotel. We had some snacks and our microwave was broken and within 15 minutes they brought in a new one to replace ours. And they even offered to go microwave our food for us in their kitchen while we waited, really amazing staff.

Chaweng is the centre of the action on Koh Samui and the beach is beautiful. However, if peace and quiet is more your thing, Chong Mon Beach or Silver Beach in Crystal Bay might suit better. Also check out Koh Nangyuan, next to Koh Tao. It is peaceful and beautiful.

Lamai is quieter and more laid-back than Chaweng, which makes it perfect if you want to relax rather than party. Good mix of local restaurants, beach clubs and everyday amenities nearby. Easy to get around by scooter or taxi.

Bophut is a beautiful place - not as lovely as some of...

Bophut is a beautiful place - not as lovely as some of Thailands islands but still bustling. The lookout points are breathtaking and lined with stunning beach cafes and restaurants. Would highly recommend going to visit the temples and Buddha. If you’re going to see the elephants - recommend Samui elephant sanctuary as it genuinely exhibited and felt ethical and the staff are amazing. Fisherman’s village market runs on specific days so check before you go. We went on a Friday (the most busy night) but it was pleasant busy and great for vibes and picking up souvenirs. The traders are open to haggling, just go in with a figure max in mind and be respectful of course! We loved Bophut - 10/10

We went all over Samui on our stay and this was one of our favorites. You get to experience the local side but it also caters for tourists. More rustic than places like Lamai and we loved it. I'd of definitely liked a few more days to explore ! Good variety of food places. Locals were super friendly and helpful. We used Grab to get around and they were always with us within minutes of booking.

Lovely beach, cost & vibrant.

Lovely beach, cost & vibrant. Nice white sand and lovely sea to swim in. A nice combination also with 4/5 star resort hotels and 2 star hotels. So for everyone something. Great beach for the kids too :-)

i find the thai people very friendly and happy goes a long way making the holiday worthwhile Chaweng beach is worth a trip 9 out of 10. Plenty selection of different restaurants with good fresh food prices reasonable a trip to the elephant farm is a must .

It's not the best beach to be at.

It's not the best beach to be at. Personally, I only found the space in front of The Culture Hotel to be the nicest. Other spaces, the beach is very short and it doesn't look great. Some restaurants or mixed used spaces dump their water in it when cleaning the floor and such, so probably not the healthiest either. There are many piers along the beach and it's busy with boats

A nice place with a relatively clean and spacious beach. You can do a lot of sea and beach sport activities, including watching the sunset and enjoying the night on the beach. There are a lot of restaurants with local and Europian cousine - low, average and higher prices, 7/11 shops, rent-a-car, laundry and other services. Grab is available on slightly higher cost. Renting a motorbike or car is the most preferable option for exploring the surrounding area and Koh Samui in general.

Great location in a quiet area of the island. Massage , supermarket and restaurant facilities nearby. Relaxing vacation surrounded by nature. Friendly staff at the hotel and nearby commerce. Waterfall near by.

Amphoe Koh Samui is a beautiful and peaceful area, perfect for travellers looking to enjoy the island in a more balanced way. I especially enjoyed staying at Maraleina Sports Resort, where I could combine sports, recovery, good food, and a calm atmosphere close to the beach. It felt like a different side of Koh Samui, more active, refreshing, and connected to well-being.
