Was looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay for the first time visiting for the Honda 200 and Mansfield was less than 15 minutes from the track. Booked a room and was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. Room was clean and had everything I needed. For a drive up hotel, I couldn't have asked for more. The small snack shop connected was also a nice feature to grab a few sodas and snacks. A short walk towards the square and stop in at Uncle John's for a cocktail and food.

Construction was terrible but the town was lovely.
Construction was terrible but the town was lovely. Cute diners, nice antique shopping. Enjoyed the history and scenery. Loved the Kingwood Gardens and Ohio State Reformatory tour. Will be back soon to do some more things.

We were in town for my grandson’s graduation so didn’t do...
We were in town for my grandson’s graduation so didn’t do much other than family. We have been to Ashland several times and there are some very interesting things to see in the area. Very beautiful country here. This is also Amish Country. There are golf courses, antique shops, pizzerias, shopping, orchards, and the old prison. Many festivals throughout the summer as well.
Just don’t stay at Wingate.

Lovely little town with some hidden gems.
Lovely little town with some hidden gems. Every dining experience was fantastic. Breakfast at Pump and Grind, lunch at TJs and dinner at Hudson & Essex are musts. The Ohio State Reformatory was excellent!

It was terrible. Wyndham Wingate. Huge spots on rug. Not vaccuumed (2 different rooms) Vinyl headboards flaking off onto pillows. Smell. We checked out immediately after we went to an alternate room and it was the same. I am waiting for a refund which I have been told I would get from Booking.com but have not seen it. This review is for the Wyndham Wingate not the town of Ashland. The town was cute.

We visited when it was -3 degrees and 2 ft of snow. Was a very lovely town. So quaint! Roads were rough. People were so kind. Even the gas station attendant was friendly. We went for tge purpose of visiting Westmeister Farm. Truly was one of the best days ever. We very much recommend and will be back again but during warmer weather. Was very easy to get to. Just off the expressway. We ate at Cracker barrel, but there Were so many local restaurants recommended, I couldnt pick one.

Ashland is a small college town so there is not a lot to do...
Ashland is a small college town so there is not a lot to do there. They do have an excellent coffee shop (goldberry) and a couple of really good restaurants. South Street in downtown has excellent food. Try the gooey butter cake for dessert. Grandpa's cheese barn is a good stop too. Huge variety of cheeses and other souvenir gifts. Fur, Fin, and Feather is a good place to shop for recreational and outdoor clothing and supplies plus they carry an excellent coffee line.
