What a beautiful and breathtaking spot in California to visit. So much to see and do. Make sure to add extra time to your visit.. also, don’t forget to visit Carmel Valley and the Village there. Beautiful scenery , amazing garden centers, wineries and restaurants not to mention the art galleries and shops in the Village..A hidden gem of a destination!
Seaside is right next to Monterey, so the trip over was very short. Seaside has grown a lot in the last 10 years, and there are many newer businesses geared toward tourism to choose from. For example we were able to catch one of the NBA finals games at the nearby Buffalo Wild wings. Lots of fast food and other restaurants and also shopping such as Grocery outlet and Walgreens nearby. Beach life is just minutes away as well.
I liked the proximity to Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel-by-the-Sea and the main attractions. The only downside was the particular location of the apartment in an industrial area, which was not apparent from the online external photos of the property. Sand City itself was a good location, less than ten minutes to the Monterey Airport, Fisherman's Wharf area, etc. It is also close to Pacific Grove and Seaside which offer a variety of attractions and eating locations. The weather was absolutely perfect.
Always have enjoyed my trips to Monterey. The eateries on the pier are all top notch and the boats are fun to watch. I'll back this Sunday to watch professional Independent baseball when the Bakersfield Train Robbers visit the Monterey Amberjacks at Sollecito Park.. Go Bakersfield! My only negative about Monterey are the homeless people on the pier and wandering the parking lots. The aggressive panhandling is tiresome and homeless people can be unpredictable.
The beds were very comfortable and no noise from neighboring rooms. One elevator was not working so we spent a lot of time in line and using the stair’s to get to the seventh floor. Parking is a $20/night charge after check in. Not valet, not special, not indoor…just plain paved parking lot.
The Aquarium is fabulous - don’t miss going there. A whale watching trio from Fisherman’s Wharf is also worthwhile. There is also a lot of history to view in the old national park buildings before you reach the Wharf. Monterey was the original capital of California during Spanish/Mexican rule. The Fisherman’s wharf is now a real tourist trap! Worth a visit but don’t spend too much time or money there. Walk to the Aquarium along the coastal path ( avoid the free bus) you can walk along Cannery Row. Takes about 20-30 minutes. You’ll also see Otters, Seals & Sea Lions……
