For us this was the best place we stayed in 4 weeks of travelling through Uruguay with very hospitable owners. Brand new and very modern cabaña with everything you need in a very quiet place, a few km down a good dirt road. We liked the wood and luxurious interior. You can sit outside and watch the birds and horses. They even made the fire pit ready with wood for the first fire!

The entrance to the thermal bath was included, the breakfast was great (they provided vegan milk, avocado, tomato, fruits, cereals, toast..) and the staff was very patient with my limited spanish :)

We explored almost all of the city and were unimpressed. We would not go back nor recommend it as a destination. However, as Sunday was one of the days we were there options for transport were limited; something we had not anticipated.

Very calm and relaxing place for solo and family trips. If solo, am visits the hot springs are the most calm experience. The river is so beautiful. Hopefully, someone will set up a non-motor boating opportunity. :D

Salto has much to offer, especially the surrounding areas.
Salto has much to offer, especially the surrounding areas. I would recommend to go to Salto in the spring or fall. We were there in the middle of summer and it was 114 degrees F, over 40 degrees C. Very hot but I will return in fall and stay with Silvia again because they have hot springs, the locks, beaches and much more to enjoy in spring or fall.
