The historic Wapping pub crawl is truly an unique experience as our guide will take you through Wapping High Street with towering early-19th-century warehouses and past cobbled lanes and water stairs that once hosted slave traders, prostitutes and drunken sailors.

We’ll walk down Wapping Old Stairs by one of these pubs, the Town of Ramsgate, to Execution Dock, where convicted pirates were tarred, hanged and their bodies chained in a gibbet at low tide, to be left until three tides had washed over their heads. We will take you through some of the more recent changes in Wapping and a music hall built in 1859 to provide provide West End glamour, comfort and first-rate entertainment for East End working people.

Our guide will also provide recommendations on beer or other beverages to complete the true experience of a pub crawl. He has worked for wine merchants and a brewery, and is an actor with a love of history and architecture.
