This two-hour tour will give you the chance to explore the Doge's Palace, situated in St. Mark's Square just off the Grand Canal in Venice. You'll get to learn about the history of the palace that was originally built for the Doge (Duke) of Venice in 1340.
While you explore, your guide will explain the unique blend of Byzantine and Gothic architecture and interiors on display throughout the palace. You'll find out the important role the palace played for centuries as Venice's seat of power, and how the building came to symbolise the city's wealth. After touring the palace, you'll be taken across the Bridge of Sighs, where state enemies of bygone centuries were infamously walked to their place of execution.
