This full-day tour takes you to five of the Netherlands's lesser-known places. The first stop on the tour is the village of De Rijp, resembling an open-air museum and home to some of north Holland's oldest wooden houses.
You'll then continue to Schermerhorn, where you can see one of the last remaining windmills that were used to drain the area, reclaiming the land and making it safe again. Next up is the province of Friesland to explore the town of Franeker – home to the oldest working planetarium in the world – and Wieuwerd, where you'll see four mummies in the crypt of a church dating back three centuries.
On your way back to Amsterdam you'll stop at the Afsluitdijk, an impressive 32-kilometre-long water barrier that connects the provinces of Noord Holland and Friesland. From the watchtower, you'll be able to take some photographs, with the Wadden Sea on one side and Lake IJssel on the other.
