This walking tour will introduce you to some of Amsterdam’s most important sights. After meeting your guide, you’ll hear about the history of the city from its humble beginnings as a village on the River Amstel to one of Europe’s most important trading cities.
The tour will stop at Dam Square – which is home to the Royal Palace and the National Monument. You’ll also learn about the history of prostitution and drug decriminalisation as you explore the Red Light District.
Other notable sights you’ll pass will include the Old Church, the Chinese Quarter and the Nieuwmarkt area. As you explore the Jewish Quarter, your guide will reveal insights into historical events that occurred during World War II, and you’ll find out about the story of Anne Frank. Before the tour finishes, you’ll see the Begijnhof Gardens, the Amsterdam Museum and the Westerkerk.
