Embark on a half-day tour from Auckland to explore one of New Zealand’s geothermal wonders in the Whakarewarewa region—Te Puia Geothermal Valley in Rotorua!
This 60-hectare site is a geothermal paradise, home to the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, a live kiwi enclosure, the famous Pohutu Geyser, and over 500 natural geothermal features. The tour begins with pick-up from Auckland CBD, followed by a scenic three-hour drive to the Bay of Plenty.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the Māori residents. Your guide will take you on a 90-minute tour of Te Puia, where you’ll witness the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere, the Pohutu Geyser, along with mud pools, live Māori carving and weaving demonstrations, and a rare look at the native kiwi bird.
Learn about Māori culture and visit a sacred Marae before returning to Auckland central after your memorable adventure.
