The shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake is one the unmissable attractions in Peru. It straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia.
The “Puma Shaped Lake” is Spread in over 8372 Km, the lake is home to some traditional local communities who are untouched by modernity. On this half day tour from Puno, you will be visiting the most photographed and the prominent man made Floating Islands of Uros that is made entirely of tatora reeds.
Totora reeds were first used centuries ago to build these islands on Lake Titicaca by the Uro-Aymara families who made their home on the lake. The local people’s boats are also made from totora reeds, and they use these vessels for fishing.
Even some of the islanders’ handcrafts are made from totora reeds, and the friendly people of this community offer their work to visitors as a souvenir of their visit to this magical place.
