Let it be stated from the start: If you are in search of a luxurious hotel suite with room service and elevators, Ave Maria is not your scene. However, I guarantee that no hotel will offer the unique, educational and cultural experience gained at this incredible establishment! Being a travelling chef, I necessarily want to be right in the smack of the multi-national confluence of cultures, which is the heart of Ave Maria. The owner, Mass, is one of the few true and authentic souls I have encountered across the globe. With a heart as big and as genuine as the variety of nationalities in Malta, he is by far the best host I have met to date. The communal kitchen is where the magic happens, where up to 6 languages can be heard at any given time. Getting back to basics, the stovetop is the spice of life where humble, honest people prepare their meals from memories of their home countries: from breakfast basics and sandwiches to Italian and Maltese pastas; Asian rice dishes, Russian broths and soups to Spanish staples and Sicilian cuisine. Every effort is made to ensure that people respect one another, clean up after themselves and generally behave well and properly. There appears to be an unspoken rule here: Live and let live. I commend Mass for truly making an effort to ensure that communal areas are cleaned daily, for attending to the safety and well being of every guest, and for welcoming people from all walks of life. It is here that I first found home in Malta: where culture and good natured and true souls meet and share and care. I will always return to Mass's Ave Maria!

The location is great. It's near restos and shops and bus stops. The room is clean and comfortable. It has a terrace overlooking the sea. The host Domenico is kind and helpful. Overall we have a great stay

Located right near a bus stop (but beware that there’s a small hill to climb up from there to the stay, in case you have a lot of luggage). Also located near a convenience stop and a short walk to the waterfront. Not too far from Mdina or Valletta. Staff, especially Jairo, we’re extremely kind and helpful. Jairo has great recommendations and also helped me figure out public transportation routes. Air con in private room was super appreciated, and my room also came equipped with a small kitchen area and a tv with Netflix and other streaming services.

The best thing was the owner. She is so nice and so helpful. Our plane landed late in the evening, so she arranged a taxi for us. Also, we were happy to visit all places she suggested, and our experience in Malta became even better! In general, the location is perfect and, in my opinion, the best place to stay in Malta. The room was super nice and big. We even got towels for the beach, there was a small fridge to keep drinks and food cold. AC was a huge plus since it was very hot. In the kitchen, we could always fill our bottles with water from a specific distributor, and it was nice since we didn't have to purchase it every day, bringing those heavy bottles into the room. Thank you for everything!

Everything was amazing! Stunning view, a lot of space and very clean apartment. It was right in the center of Saint Julian, 2 minutes' walk from the bus stops, a few minutes' walk to the clubs. Very good contact with host. Thank you ❤
