Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

I cannot recommend this stay enough. Dila, the host, was exceptional and so kind hearted that it taught me so much during my short 3 days there. It is a nice quiet location, and you can tell that Dila has put her all into making sure the guests have an amazing time. She is always there to answer questions and do everything she can to make you comfortable. She cooks a delicious breakfast with her sister, and likes to take her guests around Padang and show them beautiful things like the clear blue river deep in the village. Stuff you would never find on your own. She even noticed I liked crystals and rocks and showed me a crystal shop I would not have been aware of. I will always cherish my stay here.

The view padang, Amazing view, 8 mins Mentawai fast ferry, cold beer, close to restaurants ligger i Padang, 13 minutters gang fra Pantai Air Manis Strand, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og en... We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! A huge thank you to Robert, who was incredibly attentive and helped us with everything — from surfboard rentals to booking the fast ferry to Mentawai. Truly excellent service. Highly recommended!

JUNGLE LIFE GUEST HOUSE - Trekking & Transport Only Book With Us ligger ved stranden i Bukit Lawang og har en bar. Her er en terrasse, gratis wi-fi samt gratis privat parkering. Property was clean and overlooked the river view. My stay was excellent, and I also booked the jungle trek with them. It was absolutely amazing, and it was their own business. So it was a small group. Ricky and Anto were great with taking care of us. You should really try this activity! It’s very very worth it, and rest assured you are in good hands.

The room is very clean and comfortable, making me feel like at home. Free WiFi is also pretty good inside room, at balcony and restaurant that I did not expect in such natural environment before. Borja & Yuyun can assist all you want in the island such as transportation arrangement, watching dolphin/ snorkelling, renting car, and activity information......, etc..

We did the 2-day, 1-night hike and it was an amazing experience. Our guide was excellent – knowledgeable, friendly, and very informative. The staff were all so kind, helpful, and great company throughout our stay. I can highly recommend this place to anyone.

Ustin Nagoya Bukit Lawang Orangutan Trekking & transport only book with us ligger i Bukit Lawang og har massagebehandlinger. Dette pensionat med 2 stjerner har en døgnåben reception. Martin and his staff were extremely warm and welcoming. I ended up having all my meals there and boy was I in for a treat. We went out and did some karaoke and a whole list of activities. There was a guide for each adventure. His guides are good and happy people.

Kupu Kupu Garden Guest House & Cafe ligger ved stranden i Bukit Lawang og har en have og en terrasse. Alle værelser har en gårdhave med udsigt til floden. The location is chill, far away from noisy motorbikes. Also the friendliness of the staf. The hosts (Arif and Risky) were very entertaining and honest. They want you to have a good time and will do everything to make you feel at home. They organise good trustfull and knowledgeable guides for the jungle trek and transport. Highly recommend it. We absolutely loved the laid back jungle spirit of Kupu Kupu Garden.
