Ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guesthouse Soi offers various rooms including private Japanese-style rooms and dormitory rooms. Free and paid breakfast options are superb. The guesthouse owner and stuff are extremally friendly and helpful. A washing machine (200JPY) worked great for me.

Boasting garden views, ゲストハウス柚 features accommodation with free bikes, a garden and a terrace, around 200 metres from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. A very kind and hospitable host who left us many thoughtful gifts — coffee, candies, and even ice cream in the fridge! The room was cozy and comfortable, and we especially loved the couches. The bath was a real treat after a long day of walking. We only stayed one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer — it’s such a lovely place!

NONAGASE GUEST HOUSE, a property with a garden, is situated in Chikatsuyu, 300 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall, as well as 31 km from Hosshinmon Oji... This place is a gem and a must stay if you hike on the Kumano Kodo! The Nonagase house belonged to the local Samurai clan and is being used as a guest house nowadays. So you get to stay in a place of historic charm. Nonetheless the guest house is quite comfortable and accommodating. The landlady aka manager Hitomi, alongside with her team, were splendid! To make the stay more easy for international guests, there are little notes left everywhere, which is truly endearing. In the back of the house there’s a beautiful beer garden which is open to passing hikers and guests alike. There you get the awesome-est bruschetta with home made goats cheese and all sorts of craft beer. Which brings me to the food: if you miss this, you will regret it! The owner of the guest house is Italian and the dinner was exquisite. Something you would never expect in the countryside of Wakayama. We would always come back to this place if we were to come to Chikatsuyu again.

Located within 7.2 km of Iwafune Shrine and 10 km of Nozaki Kannon Shrine, Shionome house provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Ikoma. The ambiance of the homestay is very good, clean and comfortable. The owner of the homestay is a kind and loving couple. The hostess's eyes are bright, very energetic and caring, and the breakfast is very delicious. My son and I spent two comfortable days here, as friendly as at home. Thank you!

簡易宿所 ふくろく is located in Shingu, less than 1 km from Kamikura Shrine, a 13-minute walk from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, as well as 1.4 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. Exceptionally nice. Wonderful rooms and clean easy shared facilities. The host was wonderful and so very kind.
