TaloYlläs is a fantastic place to stay, particularly in winter. All of the rooms have a certain level of charm as they are adorned with miscellaneous items from Äkäslompolo. Joni the host gives you a solid run down of how things are setup. The sauna is great, you can book a time to use it, it's clean, modern and private. When the lake is frozen it's quicker to get to the main part of town instead of walking around the outside. Some snow gear is available at the accomodation too, you can use the Kick Sledge or the Snowshoes as you see fit which is fantastic. I saw some places that rent Snowshoes for 15 Euro Per Day, so having these around to use when you see fit is handy. Toilets also have a handheld bidet which is a win!

We saw many reindeer and even got to be really close to them. Such a peaceful and quiet place. The apartment had everything we needed, and the hot tub was a luxurious bonus. The bed and blankets were very comfortable.
