Where to start... this place is magical! We ended up at Vitajs camp by chance and it turned out to be our favorite days in Sri Lanka!!! If you like nature, remote camping, hiking and a bit of adventure it is more then perfect. The camp is located on a tea farm, only accessible via foot, so it's so calm and peaceful, really a piece of heaven. You can come from haputale via tuktuk, leave big bags at the house on top of the hill and just bring what you need for the night down to the camp. CAVE: You should be comfortable with walking, no electricity and cold water, if not, it's probably not for you. If yes, you will have the greatest time, Viraj and his family are the nicest and most welcoming people we've met in Sri Lanka so far. He speaks perfect English and is super open minded and a fun guy, so you can hang out with him at the nightly campfire, chat and learn lots about Sri Lanka culture. And the food his mum cooks... just amazing, also best I've had so far, no lie. 11/10.

**Romance Valley, Sri Lanka – A Peaceful Escape in the Hills** Romance Valley is a privately owned and run gem tucked away in the misty hills of Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by cool, cloudy weather and stunning natural beauty. The nearby waterfall and tea farms added to the charm of the location. Our room offered a spectacular L-shaped panoramic view of the valley, complete with a cozy patio that had plenty of 3-pin plug points—super handy. While the WiFi was decent for basic browsing, it’s not ideal for streaming, so it's best to download anything you need in advance. Meals were a highlight—privately booked and freshly prepared by Chef Kumar and his team. They catered to all our dietary needs and made each meal feel home-cooked and special. There’s plenty to explore on foot in and around the property, and surprisingly, we didn’t encounter any mosquitoes. That said, we still recommend carrying OFF! mosquito spray—just to be safe. Before we headed to the nearby waterfall, Chef Kumar even gave us a saltwater spray to keep the leeches away. Thoughtful touches like that made the stay even more memorable. When it’s time to head back to the city, we suggest using the Pick Me app to easily book a car or tuk-tuk. Highly recommended for a quiet, nature-filled getaway with personalized care.

This was our favourite stay in the hill country. It is tucked away in nature and is extremely peaceful and very very comfortable. Lots of animals around and a stream accessible via the main property. The host Chamila and his team really made our stay. They prepared our favourite meals in Sri Lanka for dinner and breakfast and the portions are extremely generous. Communication with Chamila was excellent and we felt taken care of right from when we made the booking. Chamila gave us lots of info about the area and what to see nearby, along with helping answer any questions we had about Sri Lanka. I hope to be able to visit again soon!

Waking up to that view and enjoying a hearty meal made every morning feel special. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. It was a very nice and cozy room. We got the family room because there was no other left and we loved it! When we arrived we got welcomed with tea. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good! We got a traditional Sri Lanka breakfast 😊 They organised us a scooter to rent and helped us getting down to Tangalle! One thing… the accommodation is about 1-2km far from Ella Town, good to know and people might think it’s annoying but we really liked being in the middle of nature and meeting locals and just listening to the sounds of nature! We would always come again!
