Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, free BBQ facilities and a free airport shuttle, Saltbush Retreat is a 3 minutes’ drive from Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum. Perfect! Lovely design and very comfortable. We were in a Stables room. Took 'The Spirit of the Outback' overnight train from Brisbane with my husband and 11 year old and after 26 hours we could have kept going. Too hot to go to Uluru and this was a great alternative to see a bit of the Outback. Saltbush Retreat was a very welcome oasis in the extreme heat (well, extreme for me :-) Picked this hotel for its location (across street from the 2 museums and airport) and for the outdoor bathtubs but the museums were closed for the holidays and I never got in the bathtub so what I really remember is a huge clean cool room and absolutely fantastic staff. Ron gave us a little drive around tour of town as the museums were closed and a lovely lady dropped us at the airport. Monica is the local taxi lady. AUD$15 to get from town back to Saltbush.

Excellent glamping tent with a luxury feel and lots of room. Comfortable large beds. Our tent was spacious and clean with a nice bathroom. Great location close to the beach where we saw baby turtles making a run for the ocean before the beach closed. Lots of other wildlife around, mainly birds (noisy kookaburras) and kangaroos (both on the beach and next to our tent in the morning).

The location was really quiet and it feels like u have the whole place to yourself especially since we booked all 3 cabins for our family of 6. There were plenty of birds to see and we also spotted wallaroos. The sunset is beautiful over the water and the starry night skies were stunning.
