What a hidden paradise! It was pure luck that we found it. We had only booked a random hotel near Stone Town to visit the area, but upon arrival, we were so captivated—completely won over—breathtaken that we extended our stay here and postponed our trip to Stone Town. The owner is a truly creative, passionate spirit who has succeeded in creating an oasis of relaxation where you can leave everyday life behind. Everyone is friendly. Everything is beautiful. The visit to the mangroves was absolutely unforgettable. You will never regret coming here—just make sure not to book too short a stay. What drags down the rating here on Booking is that people complain about irrelevant things, such as the road to the hotel, insects in the surrounding nature, etc. Which is a shame, because the hotel and the stay and the staff and the visionary owner itself are a solid 10 (at least) if you focus on what actually matters—the hotel and the experience itself. -Because that’s what it is—a truly extraordinary experience. It’s unnecessary to lower Mangrove Lodge’s overall rating because of mosquitoes in the wild or because the electricity is intermittent—something that happens all over Zanzibar. No pictures can truly do Mangrove Lodge justice; it has to be experienced. Taking everything into account for this happy-feelinggood-relaxing place- I think the hotel is underpriced
