FAQs about hotels in Muscat

The Middle East’s Best Kept Secret

An enchanting Arabic jewel, Muscat was already an important port in the 1st century. With a strict building code that imposes respect to heights and styles, the city has developed a harmonized and traditional look that makes it irresistible. Don’t miss the traditional Muttrah Souq marketplace, considered one of the best in the region.

The city is actually composed of three towns: Muscat is the walled Old Town where royal palaces are located; Muttrah includes the old and new harbours and the Corniche seafront; and Ruwi is the commercial and diplomatic area. Check out the Muscat hotels map on Booking.com and choose your preferred location!

The city is surrounded by the Western Al Hajar Mountains, and the crystalline waters and sandy beaches of the Arabian Sea. Staying in a Muscat hotel on the beach is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Oman views.

The modern and elegant Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the largest in the world. Don’t miss the twin forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani, and the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace.

Before departing to Muscat International Airport, check the deals for hotels, resorts, and B&B’s available on Booking.com!

Friendly locals and exceptional hospitality…The city maintains its original charm with beautiful beaches and mountains and many valleys to explore. Very clean city and great infrastructure. Easy to get around using the Otaxi app, it’s like Uber, you will naturally get ripped off it you got a private taxi so highly recommend you download the otaxi or Yango app. Lots of food options and shopping souqs and malls.

A very pleasant and friendly city.

A very pleasant and friendly city. The list of my favorite places would be much too long. Getting around with Otaxi is very practical. The National Museum, Zubair Museum and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Masjid are a must visit. For a nice coffee or refreshing drink, I recommend the café at Al Mirani Fort, overlooking the Al Alam Palace and the sea. Take a walk on one of the beaches at sunset. In the evening, I particularly love a walk in the park surrounding the Opera House, enjoying the rich perfume of the jasmin trees. My favorite restaurant is Homey for it's delicious Zanzibari food and great service.

Muscat, Oman: A City of Serenity, Culture, and Coastal...

Muscat, Oman: A City of Serenity, Culture, and Coastal Beauty Muscat is a city that surprises you—not with skyscrapers or fast-paced urban noise, but with its elegant simplicity, hospitality, and authentic Omani culture. Nestled between the rugged Hajar Mountains and the serene Arabian Sea, Muscat offers a peaceful, reflective atmosphere that is rare in today’s capital cities. ✅ What I Loved: Architecture & Ambience: No towering glass buildings, but rather beautiful whitewashed structures, domes, and arches that respect traditional Omani design. People: Genuinely warm and polite. Whether in shops, cafés, or taxis, I felt welcome and respected at every turn. Cleanliness & Safety: Immaculately clean streets, quiet neighborhoods, and a strong sense of security. Walking at night felt completely safe. Food: Rich flavors, from Omani shuwa to fresh seafood and karak tea. Local restaurants and cafés are hidden gems. Sights to See: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque – breathtaking design and spiritual tranquility. Muttrah Corniche & Souq – vibrant market and scenic coastal walkway. Royal Opera House – a mix of art, architecture, and refinement. ⚠️ What to Keep in Mind: Limited Public Transport: Taxis or renting a car are often necessary to move around. Early Closures: Many shops and venues close early, especially on Fridays. Climate: Summers are extremely hot—plan sightseeing in early mornings or cooler months (October to April). 🧭 Final Thoughts Muscat is not a city of chaos or flashiness—it's a place for those who appreciate culture over consumerism, peace over pace, and depth over distraction. A perfect destination for a thoughtful traveler or a restful getaway.

Greta place for relaxing, tours, nature, beach activities, culture and food .. every time I visit Muscat I discover something new and interesting, the country is very safe, priced right, food price is excellent, a lot and I mean a lot of activities to do, I normally spent at least 4 - 5 days during my visit to Oman and still I want to spend more. very cozy life and style which I love and adore a lot. Oman people are very nice and helpful when you need their help. Muscat is modern and traditional at the same time, not a lot of cement blocks, which I like a lot. Very green and colorful.

I recently visited Oman and had a great time, despite the hot weather. The country is full of history and culture - forts, souqs, mosque and ancient sites. There's so much to see and learn. What really stood out was the natural beauty. From mountains and deserts to stunning coastlines, the scenery is amazing. Driving around was easy too - good roads and barely any traffic, even in the cities. Oman is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're into heritage and nature. Just try to go in the cooler months - winter is the best time to explore comfortably. The Omani people were incredibly warm and welcoming. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with genuine smiles and kindness.

Would stay again. Stayed on the way out of Oman (had also stayed there on arrival for three nights). Good two bedroom apartment this time with plenty of space and good facilities (see previous review). Staff at front desk were a bit hit and miss on the airport transfer. We booked two taxis (8 OMR each) the day before but clearly this was news to the desk staff at 0600h the next morning. However, one of the staff grabbed the hotel van which was quite nice and drove us to the airport for the same cost as taxis.

Really nice hotel, many cafes nearby, you can walk to the sea. Chic interior of the hotel's common areas. Very comfortable beds, large TV, luxurious bathroom. There is a rooftop pool where you can sunbathe and swim. Remember, however, that if you find yourself in Oman during Ramadan, your activities are limited. You can eat, drink, and smoke only from dusk to dawn. Although supermarkets are open. Breakfast is also available at the hotel. You won't get lost! Easy way to the airport.

I traveled with my wife and 7-months old son. Our 10-days stay was a wonderful holiday. From the very knowledgeable front desk staff (who works mainly at night) , to the delightful restaurant and beach staff. The rooms and hotel were also very clean and well-appointed! Fresh flowers in the room and Amouage toiletries complemented the scent of true Oman :) I recommend it to everyone! The staff and the entire facility deserve a 10+ rating!

This place was a good find. Amazing level of comfort, furnishing was amazing. Bed was great. Staff was very friendly. I think given the price, it was the best place to be in oman. Infact, if you are not fussed about the luxury which 5 star hotel offer, this is 5 star without the amenities. Must stay. Whenever I go to muscat, i will stay here.
