The setting is absolutely spectacular amongst the res cantor rocks. The property landscaping is fantastic with ponds and pool. The rooms are huge with a large picture window looking out on the “Castle” rock formations. The air con works well, the shower is hot and strong. The breakfast is better than standard. You need to choose your dinner menu upon arrival and determine the hour when you want to eat and it will be served exactly on time. The staff does not speak much English but we could communicate with a few words of basic Spanish and English. The hotel is outside of Cafayete proper, so best to come with your own car. Unforgettable stay for an excellent price.

We had some really good cheap meals while in Cafayate, you must go to El Hornito. We really enjoyed visiting some of the vineyards and also doing the Hike where you see seven waterfalls. Just be weary with the guides. Ours took us for a ride and charged us different to what was agreed at the start. Maybe pay before you start. We had a hire car which made travel a lot easier around Cafayate. We tried to ride bikes to the vineyards, but the bikes we were rented were very poor so it was impossible to get around on them. The drive along Route 68 between Cafayate and Salta is incredible!!! Also, the wine museum is also very interesting and worth a visit.
Stunning town, we absolutely loved it here. We walked everywhere, i highly recommend eating at the bodegas. Our favorite bodegas were Piatelli and Nanni, Esteco was nice too but a bit too pricey. The scenery is something I would come back for alone. Piatelli had amazing food and so did bodega Nanni. El Ranco is good for dinner too and it’s on the main square.
Small but cute town with lots of restaurants and shops for tourists. Many wineries are within the city and all is at walking distance. The further wineries are only 4 min drives from town. Very clean and with plenty of options for all budgets. Ideal for wine and food lovers.
Cafayate is the place of the great wineries of the North of the country. The place is very toursit friendly and is also preferred by young persons in the Summer. We had dinner at the HORNILLOS restaurant, two blocks from the main square. Great food and fair price. For snacks a small eatery called BACANA has great food and very unexpensive
I loved the simplicity, the shops & tranquility. I ate at Retono restaurant. Food & service excellent. Enjoyed the ambience of the inner courtyard of the Nanni winery. Also enjoyed the park. From the park fabulous views of the mountains. And on my way to Cafayete I rode in a shared taxi through the Quebrada de Cafayete. Stunning out of this world!
Cafayate is a very quite village at 1800 meters above sea level. It comes in front of us if you follow the "Ruta del vino" from Salta City. There are a lot of vineyards to visit , where you can eat & taste Torrontes , a local sweet wine variety & of course the well known Malbec. Wine is everywhere in the village where you can buy a bottle with 250 Argentinian pesos , which that means 5 euros. The food in general is cheap as well as the accommodation. Accomodation in Cafayate starts from 20 euros per night at a very good hotel in the heart of Cafayate up to 90 euros per night if you choose to stay in vineyards.Thinks to do we can say a lot. Of course you can bike all the village up to Cascadas & Rio Colorado.Additionally the wine tasting is an excellent choice of tourism as Cafayate offers a lot of Wine "Bodegas".The route 40 from Salta to Cafayate is something that hardly someone forgets. Following ruta del vino you can go to San carlos village or angastaco which is located 2 hours far away with unpaved road. There you can see the magic stones coming out of the earth. The people are more than kind & polite everywhere & the hospitality is all around. Finally in Cafayate you can eat empanadas & sandwiches at Ampi , a very good one! Of course you need to have some Argentinian pesos to go around.Terruno is an excellent choice as well as Grace cafayate Hotel-restaurant both for accommodation & food. Moreover there are a lot of stores with local products. You can but leather or Tea to fill the Mate Cup. Clothes are everywhere but with local style. The well know clay products are all around. You can buy a clay cup with 40 pesos. Finally there are 2 tourist agencies that they can help you to see everything around Cafayate.
