I would recommend this vacation for anyone who likes hiking, fishing and breathtaking views. The hotel we stayed in was right on the Nahuel Huapi Lake. Personally, that was half the joy. We stayed at Charming Luxury Lodge which was 5 miles from town but walking distance to many restaurants. Each room had a terrace to sit with the local, very inexpensive wine and cheese and take in the view. Tours picked us up at the hotel. My husband also had the best fishing experience of his life there. My son did some killer scrambling. I hiked to the Llao Llao peak - a must do if you are a hiker and love beautiful views. As for tours, we enjoyed the boat trip over to Lake Victoria and the Arranyes Forest. Keep in mind Argentina is an AMAZING value right now due to the exchange rate.
We lived 8 km away from Bariloche so we would take a bus. The intervals are about 15-20 minutes. We loved Mamushka shop with a lovely coffee shop inside in Bariloche, since we lived in La Playa Bonita - we ate there. "Kunstmann" offered excellent German-Patagonian beers and traditional German food. Great view as well. We also liked "La Playa" - a small lovely wooden restaurant perched above the lake - 30 meters from the water. Excellent view and good Argentinian food. Next time we come to Bariloche we will check the weather forecast when staying there. We planned to visit Teleferico Cerro Otto and failed to do so - they stop cable cars when it's windy and when it's rainy.
A very picturesque town with plenty of food options and a busy main street with everything you could want. Beautiful visitas. Helpful if you have a car but not necessary. Be prepared for hilly streets.
This is a great town, but it is important to leave the city and visit the natural beauty that surrounds it. Great chocolate, nice stores, beautiful cathedral, but more stunning is the Circuito Chico which takes you to some striking views of the area. It includes Cerro Campanario, Colonia Suiza and the Punto Panoramico which should not be missed.
I went with a plan to study some Spanish which I achieved at the Montana School. Bariloche is a summer/winter tourist town with many attractive facilities: the numerous restaurants, bars, chocolate shops, coffee shops and more can use up your day quite effectively! There seems to be a wide choice of hotels and lodgings at various price-points. Bariloche is located on the eastern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi with magnificent views across the lake to the mountains. More importantly it is the setting off point for numerous tours, hikes and other outdoor activities in the region. I took a day boat trip to Puerto Blest and another mini-van day trip to Monte Tronador and the Glacier de Manso overlook. I recommend both. There is a daily air service from Buenos Aires and seasonal services from other tourist locations. The quality of the air terminal will surprise many visitors. Finally, as everywhere in Argentina I found the people to be friendly , cheerful, and happy to oblige - even to the extent of encouraging my broken Spanish when they could speak better English!
The views of the mountains are amazing - never want to stop looking at them. Take a trip up the cable car or ski lift for even better views for miles and miles. Say WOW a lot. Parking almost impossible in the town itself.
Staff was very helpful and everyone was friendly. The restaurant food was delicious and I think the fastest service we’ve had across Argentina. We ended up staying longer in Bariloche and we were glad we moved to this property. Supermarket right across the st. Walking distance to the main st. stores, restaurants, desserts, and money changer most importantly bus stops Also the shower was amazing best one we’ve had around patagonia and breakfast was pretty good. Hoping for some eggs but its seems its not a thing in Argentina.
An absolutely beautiful spot on the lake with a stunning view from nearly everywhere on the property. They seem to be extending the hotel at the front, so the construction slightly blocks off part of the view from the restaurant terrace though . Easy access down to the lake and pool and the greenery everywhere was really nice. The bed and room itself were both very large and comfortable and the food at the restaurant was all absolutely lovely for dinner and also breakfast!
Lago Gutierrez, San Carlos de Bariloche
Stayed at the hotel for the weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive, ready to help with various questions. Excellent location - there is a lake nearby and you can walk around for a very long time. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant - we ordered dinner and were pleasantly impressed by the quality and taste of the prepared dishes, as well as the size of the portions.
Staff where very friendly and helpful. The “Tea room” ( open 1-4) is also their restaurant but it does not open till 8 p.m. Nice atmosphere. Never used spa area but it looked nice. Fantastic restaurant right next door that is open early for dinner. Hotel made reservations for us. Incredible view!
San Carlos de Bariloche
The location is good, right in front of the bus station, but the price is 4 to 5 times higher than similar places in Argentina, they give you a little noisy bed in a cramped shared room at the price of a fully equipped apartment.
San Carlos de Bariloche
