The City of Ushuaia has its charm.

The City of Ushuaia has its charm. Yet the surrounding area was unbelievable. The taxista Raúl Medina (+54 9 2901 50 6867) showed me El Parque Nacional, the city of Ushiaia and drove me to the parking lot for Laguna Esmeralda. Visitors can contact him for his services. Along with the staff of Aionkenk Raúl made my visit one of my best vacations ever. The bar Santos on Maipú is a local watering hole and restaurants El Faro and Moustacchi had great food. The cruise on the Beagle Canal to the penguin rookery was grand!

If you like the nature, this is the place you need to visit.

If you like the nature, this is the place you need to visit. Full of lakes and trails, you really have to decide where to go. Suggestion: try to organize your excursions on your own, renting a car, more than over pay for travel agencies. Try to avoid the penguins expeditions: the tour takes at least 6 hours, most of them just stop in 2 places but you will not go out from the boat. The view is nice, but it’s always the same. If you want to enjoy a less touristic place, go for Laguna Turquesa. For the night, Dublin is a must see. We had centolla in Tia Elvira and it was delicious.

Ushuaia has stolen my heart - I will definitely, definitely be back again and again. It's a beautiful city with so much more to do than I had thought, and is just so scenic. Lovely food options, easy to walk around in.

Just the glorious of view of the snow-capped mountains...

Just the glorious of view of the snow-capped mountains surrounding the city, which you can see from any point in town, including both windows in our apartment. The only tour worthwhile imo is to Isla Martillo, but only one tour operator allows you to go onto the island (for an hour) with the penguins. Fantastic experience. You have to pay twice what others charge, but with the others you only view the penguins from a boat. The downtown area is pretty compact, but there are hills that may be difficult for some people to climb on foot. Lots of good places to eat and lots of bars.

Travelling for 4 months and not looking to be continuously...

Travelling for 4 months and not looking to be continuously moving and in order to complete some work remotely, we originally booked 1 week but added a day due to a flight cancellation. We would not come back again unless we were doing an Antarctic cruise. Generally the town is over rated and run down; the penguin walk was interesting, the beagle channel cruise was pleasant enough but of questionable value given the time and expense to get here. The town and shops can be completely seen in a couple of evening walks. Perhaps just an evening walk. There are however, a number of good quality restaurants. Things must be pretty good for the tourism industry. There were a number of occasions where stores full of customers were actively told to leave and herded out the door so that the store could make their 2pm closing time ... while being told that the store would re-open at around 4-5pm. Come back soon! Service. But we can say we have seen it and the geography is beautiful. If coming 3 days / two nights or 4 days / three nights would be more than enough.

It's a great place to stay in Ushuaia. The breakfast is awesome with free eggs, fruits and a lot of choices. The staff are super friendly and helpful in any way. You do their laundry for a decent price and use the facilities even after check out. It's clean and the "living room" is mostly full of life where you can meet other travellers. The WiFi is working very well. The location is perfect close to the city centre and a lot restaurants, supermarket and the museum. I would definitely stay there again

I have been travelling and using facilities like this for over 50 years. To arrive in a place at the end of the world and find our accommodations so exceptionally clean a d refreshing was a surprise Wilhelmina, the rep was first class in making sure we would feel important during our stay. She went beyond the normally expected Norms to assist us, even changing rooms at one point. The views of Ushuaia were spectacular. I highly recommend this establishment.

It's a small and 'intimate' B&B -- not a hotel! It's run by a young lovely couple, both very helpful and friendly. They will work to make the most of your stay in Ushuaia. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast, tough simple, very good (with eggs and fruits). They can (and will) help you with tips and with reservations (remis, restaurants, rides, etc). We had a great time there and do recommend Las Retamas.

I liked the staff, very friendly and welcoming. They did everything they could. I liked the location of the hotel, everything you need is nearby: shops, birrs, restaurants. The hotel is located on a hill, you can admire the views. I liked the common living room next to the reception - very cozy, you can have a snack and watch the beautiful view.

The hosts were amazing, do not juge an hotel by its facade, when we arrived in was in construction we almost turned around but its really secure, there is an outside door to the complex that is always locked. Our rooms were really clean and everything that we needed was provided. Not noisy at all. And the washing machine was a blessing!
