Offering private bungalows with free Wi-Fi, Abel Tasman Cabins Devonport is located alongside East Devonport Beach and Saint Georges Park. Guests enjoy lovely gardens and a large BBQ area. This is a van park, I stayed in a wooden cabin which had a carport for my motorcycle. The cabin was spotless and charming. The Spirit of Tasmania loading dock was just 3 blocks away and handy for the morning sailing back to Melbourne. This was indeed an excellent place to stay as you have several choices of accommodation. Would certainly stay here again.
Delightful surprise. If seeking accommodation close the Spirit for morning departure, this place exceeds expectations. Very clean and updated rooms with comfortable bed. We arrived around 6pm the night before travel and walked to the Bistro which served a great meal. Breakfast also available. Would stay again.
A beautiful town on the Mersey River, the views of the sea where the Spirit of Tasmania docks and departs is lovely. The locals are soooo friendly, we got out the tourist map on our walk-about and was asked by one of the locals if we needed assistance, that wouldn't happen in Sydney I'm sure. We found a fantastic bakery that I think was called Banjos Bakery, their curried scallop pie was filled with scallops and so yummy, the cakes on display were also tempting, how lucky the locals are to have an outstanding bakery like that. There is a lovely walk/cycle path around to Mersey Bluff lighthouse that passes beaches that are pristine surrounded by green parkland. We saw a chap walk down the street with an alpaca...an unusual sight for sure. I loved Devonport and am so glad we spent a whole day and evening there.
Devonport is developing into a very attractive city. It has natural assets such as several beaches for swimming, nice childrens playground and skate park, beautiful hills in the distance, lovely river. Now the city centre is developing with some major upgrades underway, lovely mall, many boutique shops. A great hinterland with apple cider factories, Lake Barrington for recreation, walking at Narawantapu and Mt Roland, lovely village of Latrobe with any features for tourists such as the Axeman's Hall of Fame, beautiful tea-rooms. Lots of superbly maintained Art Deco buildings.
This is about Devonport TASMANIA!!!! Lovely river estuary - a short industrial segment then a large bay and Tasmania beyond. Lovely transit of huge ships across the front lawn. One RORO freighter left for Melbourne and the Spirit of Tasmania I and SeaRoad arriving on the Sunday morning. Amazing
Devonport was very central to visit the many coastal towns, we also used as a base to visit Cradle Mountain but be aware the winter weather dictates which attractions you visit in the winter. The supermarkets were nearby for self catering. Parking in the CBD was 1/2 hour not very helpful . I personally like 1-2 hours to look around. The local people are very friendly.
There was lots to do if you like nature and have a car. 10 things to do around Devonport will sort that out for you. Levan Canyon, Preston Falls, Kaydale Gardens (stay for lunch or morning and afternoon tea). Great home cooked meal.
Devonport
For me this was the perfect place to stay in Devonport as it is situated on a tranquil, secluded part of the river, yet within 5-10 minutes drive of restaurants and supermarkets. Sitting on our terrace in the sunshine over looking the river was a great way to eat breakfast. The apartment was luxurious, the kitchen was well equipped, both bathrooms lovely and the washing machine and dryer very appreciated

The managers were brilliant very friendly & helpful. The rooms were spotless and the cleaning girls happily supplied extra milk and coffee. The hotel was close to everything. The room was large, with a king size bed, kitchen and a sofa. also a laundry onsite. on site is a heated pool & tennis court. I will stay at the Barclay again & would recommend it to anyone.
