All major franchises were located in the Shopping Mall which was conveniently located within walking distant of the Hotel. I found the local shop keepers friendly and obliging. The Coffee Shops were divine, attend 5 different locations in 24hrs! Once even made up a smoothie I requested on the spot, one which was not on the menu and they had never made before...nice one and Kudos to the Coffee Club near the Entertainment Centre. I had my hair trimmed and had no waiting time at all, to get this done. Frankston is a very pleasant place to spend a few days in, the food is good, the entertainment is excellent in the pubs and other venues and overall I like this area, with is nice panoramiv views of the seaside!
This was a very quick visit to pick up new boat trailer and take home to Batemans Bay. We had tea at the Frankston Pub as recommended by motel and were very impressed by lovely premises and delicious food. Next day after picking up trailer from Savage Trailers (Seaford, highly recommended), we enjoyed a coffee and walk at Frankston foreshore which was very pleasant. We were a bit disappointed to be driving on so many freeways and missing out on scenery. Perhaps next time we will have longer and be able to spend more time enjoying scenic routes.
Frankston is a short drive from Melbourne and very close to good, safe swimming beaches. We were in Franston between the Christmas and new year break, despite it not being a public holiday there were not many restaurants or Cafes open. Also, what was opened seemed to shut around 3! Frankston looks a little rough around some streets near the train station, some people seemed well under the influence, so probably best to stay clear of some areas.
We were able to buy takeaway pizza and take it to The Frankston Motel. The motel had a pool and tennis court and barbecue facilities, so very suitable for families and couples. The location was ideal for getting to The Australia Day Fun Run on the foreshore at Dromana as it was only about forty-five minutes away. If we had more time we would go for a swim at Frankston or have lunch at Waves restaurant. Or we were also talking about seeing the Sand sculptures which are a highlight in Frankston each summer-they are magnificent-a great attraction for families and people of all ages.
We enjoyed the close proximity of most of what we wanted to do. The purpose of our visit was to take in the Sand Sculptures which we found very interesting. The shopping precinct was good, clean and easy to navigate.
Til April there is a large Sculptured Sandcastle display, Take Cash for entry. Great Indian dining at The Spice Club on Nepean Hwy. Foreshore parking is expensive. Take the time to visit Peninsula Hot Springs
