Mountain Heritage Hotel, hotel in Katoomba

Perched on the edge of a ridge, 984 feet from the heart of Katoomba’s town center, this 4.5-star hotel offers panoramic views of the World Heritage Blue Mountains.

A glorious grand old dame hotel, where you can dip your toes into the world of the ultra-wealthy of a century ago. Between the luxurious woodwork, the sweeping staircase and the the spectacular picture windows, you can easily envision the dinner jackets and ropes of pearls of former guests. If you're lucky the piano player is on duty bestowing smiles and completing the enchantment. Though centrally located it feels remote on its little castle hill with the unbelievable views. The beds and showers are fortunately of this era, and wonderfully comfortable. The staff were all lovely, but in particular the manager, David James, is a hero for rushing our lost passports downtown to post them to us immediately. What great memories of Katoomba and the people there!

The hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable and in an ideal spot to get around Katoomba. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a lovely deep bath which is becoming a rare thing to have in a hotel these days.

YHA Blue Mountains Katoomba, hotel in Katoomba

Located within an Art Deco heritage-listed building, YHA Blue Mountains Katoomba offers a range of rooms, a BBQ area, a games room and an impressive former ballroom with a cozy fireplace.

The heaters worked, which was important bc it was cold at night. There was a lot of information available about excursions and activities. There was a sign in/out book to keep tabs on guests for safety purposes. I liked the layout of the room with a sitting area at the windows and the television. The bathroom was a nice size and with hot water.

    It's def worth the visit.

It's def worth the visit. The train ride is easy and reasonably priced (check for the fast train which has fewer stops). There are many activities in walking distance and the train is also an option. Just a cute town. Oh, and a lovely library.

Unfortunately, we had 4 days of complete white out and rain and cold. We didn't get to see any of the views, lookouts, walks or scenic world. 🥲🥲🥲🥲 Very disappointing. I guess we couldn't control the weather. We were extremely disappointed with the attitude towards tourists re parking in the town! Everywhere we went, there were signs that said, "Pay By Phone" Little back streets, shopping centres, everywhere. The cost was up to $8 for 15mins .. so complicated. It assumed you had a mobile phone and a credit card attached to it. I don't mind user pays, but they don't even accept cash. It seems when goggling parking that the locals get a free permit system. We did have a nice meal at the Chinese restaurant for lunch which filled in sometime during our stay. I guess this is a very busy place in good weather and at other times. We won't bother returning again. We will look at views on the travel shows!

Katoomba town was a bit disappointing.

Katoomba town was a bit disappointing. I haven’t been for a few years and found it very run down and a bit depressing. The shops near an upgrade and so do a lot of the building. I thought parking costs a bit excessive. Of course the Three sisters area and scenic world area are still very impressive.

The weather wasn't the best ,when it's raining and foggy you couldn't see the beauty of the scenery, so you then go shopping. All the little shops are quaint and the fashion shops very good quality and very different . Lots of small cafes with excellent food and coffee. In the winter season always stay at a place that has open fire places.

We did a lot of hiking in national park forest and it was raining everyday but that didn't discourage us. You just feel like continuing to the next attraction and the next and the next.......before you know it you are deep in the forest. I loved it! Loved!! God willing i am going back.

In the heart of the Blue Mountains with lots of eating options. Lots of great walks nearby. The 3 sisters are within walking distance so you can avoid the parking charges recently implemented in the area.

Staying at this hotel is like being wrapped in a cozy blanket of luxury, with views that could make even the most seasoned traveler pinch themselves just to check if it's real. The scenery outside the window is so stunning, it's like Mother Nature hired a personal decorator. And let's talk about the rooms - they're so lovely, I half expected them to tuck me in at night and read me a bedtime story. It's like sleeping in a cloud made of marshmallows and dreams.

The hotel is ideally located close to Katoomba railway station. The bed was very comfortable and the shower good. The room was clean with tea/coffee/milk and kettle. We advised we would be arriving late and received helpful information via booking.com the necessary codes for collecting keys and gaining access. All worked extremely well.

The Carrington is in a perfect position, right in the heart of Katoomba and the Blue Mountains and is easy walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops etc. The hotel is an experience in itself and gives a glimpse into the past that not many would have had exposure too. I could not fault the staff, food or facilities in any way.

Fantastic old style hotel on main street (katoomba st). A bit walk from station specially because there's a hill, but I did it easy because I am used to walk. Near Bus to take to three sisters. And scenic world. About 30 min walk... The staff is super kind. Top! Great parking for those who bring car
