The location is excellent. A short walk from the train station and the public bus outside the gates, to take us to all of the wonderful spots in the area. It’s a wonderful time warp inside the Carrington, with sculptures and framed photos and stories of its past. At the same time, the upkeep means that it’s completely comfortable. Best of all is the staff - who answered all queries with a smile and complete attention to our needs and making sure they were met.

Lots of different walks to do around the area. We hired a car online to pick up in Katoomba- Cory at Thrifty was exceptional! The car gave us more flexibility to go to different towns in the area.

Katoomba is accessible to easier walks and more inclusive nature attractions (cable car, large wheelchair accessible lookout etc.).
For those traveling on public transport/walking and looking at harder bushwalks/hikes, I'd recommend staying in Blackheath.
It wouldn't matter as much if you drive, since these towns are not far apart.

Katoomba is a great place to go for bush walks in wonderful scenery. The popular spots (Echo Point) are crowded but it's easy to go a kilometre away and be quite alone. Walks are very well marked and maintained. There are several other tourist attractions (cable car, scenic railway) which would appeal to younger tourists but the real beauty of the place remains the mountain scenery and the fresh air.
We were surprised at the number and variety of good eating places. Neighbouring towns like Leura and Blackheath are also good places to visit and very close.
Hint: bring something warm - it can get cold at night and windy during the day.

Katoomba has a wonderful atmosphere, great cafes and many interesting outdoor activities. Very different vibe from other NSW towns. Wonderful natural vegetation everywhere. Great place to rug up and get cosy.
Old fashioned style hotel with a large communal area with fireplace, and vintage decor. Room was warm, comfy and clean and reception was friendly and helpful. Close proximity to Katoomba RSL for dining, and a chocolate cafe just up the road. Simple contintental breakfast served onsite to get started for the day. No frills but great for a short 1 night stay.
A peaceful hotel on a quiet side street. The location is extremely convenient for exploring Katoomba and the Blue Mountains. I particularly loved the massage chair in my room!
