Great city, just enough of everything! Good shopping, nice restaurants and a beautiful Marina. Good entertainment on the weekends, usually always something going on in the city. Loads of accommodation to choose from too.

Trip to Mackay Harbour was fantastic.

Trip to Mackay Harbour was fantastic. Purchased fish and chips at the Marina and drove out along the breakwall and enjoyed dinner sitting on the rocks watching the ocean. The marina was full of boats of all sizes. Canelands shopping centre in the city had plenty of great shops as did the city centre. Plenty of great cafes and restaurants to choose from, Drove to Hay Point Coal Terminal lookout which was fascinating.

Lovely city on the Pioneer river with walkways along its front. Beautiful Botanic Gardens. So many beautiful beaches not too far north. However, we felt that the city centre itself was a bit dead. Our main reason for coming to this area was the scenery in the surrounding districts which are magnificent!! The tropical forests walks in National parks. Searching for platypus, dugongs!! Beautiful beach walks etc!!

Mackay is wonderful! Everything is close by.

Mackay is wonderful! Everything is close by. In the City area, plenty of shops, galleries etc to wander into and have a look. Just a walking distance is the large, nice shopping centre Caneland. Don't forget the waterfront! Walk across the bridge and the southside shoreline. AND the northern side is beaches. Please check them out. Beautiful, stunning.

Wayne & Anne are great hosts...helpful, warm & friendly...& the housekeepers were lovely to deal with. The property is kept exceptionally clean & tidy & our room was perfect for our stay. Great little pool tucked away to the side, & a private gazebo area for the smokers. Central to everything & everywhere, whilst sitting just on the edge of the city. Deceiving @ first, but definitely a little gem Will be staying again when we're back in Mackay.
