I llived in Penrith area (1945-1957), went to Penrith Highschool (1947-1950) and worked in Penrith until 1957. I have passed through Penrith, stopping briefly since then. Canoeing on and swimming in the river and fishing had been favourite passtimes, so this location was special for me and the river from the Nepean Belle was a new view compared with the view from a canoe.
Wonderful. Excellent shopping without the hussle & bussle of the bigger suburbs. We stayed at the apartments on Colless Street and they were beautiful. We dined at the panthers club witch was amazing! Large portions, value for money and the best pizza I’ve ever tasted.
Lady at front desk treats you like she is your mother..she is rude and bossy. Air con was rubbish and takes ages to feel it,no microwave, fridge not cold and small, furniture old.telephone in room has no cord.
We live in the lower Blue Mountains & were only staying in Penrith while our house exchanged settlement before we moved in but l find Penrith a quick growing town with some good restaurants, shopping & only 45 min by fast train to Sydley.
I think Penrith is a gem of a place and each visit I find something new. The last two trips I found the Nepean Rowing Club, what a fantastic location and great little place, friendly staff and locals, good food and cheap drinks which is great for a family budget. The other place was Nepean Shores, again, great staff and facilities opposite the Nepean River and near newly developed eateries. If you enjoy walking you'll love this place, waterfront walks and a short stroll to Panthers, Cables and Aqua Golf. Go visit Penrith, you'll love it.
Obviously a growing city and infrastructure changes going on everywhere but all very necessary, a lot of good people work at Panthers ,some still have to grasp hospitality especially young bar staff ,a well behaved venue!
