North Gregory Hotel is located in the heart of the historic Winton township, next to Opal Walk and the Royal Open Air Theater Museum. The best location in town. History everywhere. Large comfortable rooms. Beds were great. Meals are large and tasty. The beer garden is lovely and they keep you cool with misting fans. Staff incredibly helpful, particularly Irene at reception. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Featuring a bar, Australian Hotel Winton is located in Winton. The property has karaoke and room service. The rooms include air conditioning, and some accommodations at the hotel have a balcony. For the hotel being 175 years old we thought it was well cared for and clean. There was some structural maintenance in progress and the staff were informative about the concern of our safety. We would definitely stay again

OMG - Steve the manager went out of his way to ensure my stay was comfortable and well worthwhile. I was very lucky he mentioned the Age Of Dinosaurs attraction and also suggested the Winton Hotel for my evening meal. The location was excellent, i was able to walk to the Waltzing Matilda Centre, and there is awesome coffee across the road. The added bonus was seeing some wild Brolgas come in for their morning feed.

So much to see and do with so much great history and displays. Their history and Dinosaur displays were incredible and the Dinosaur Stampede display going back 90 million years plus their museums including the Waltzing Matilda museum which was one of the best I have seen. Just great
The Dinosaur Museum is an absolute must! So is star-gazing at night time. The Waltzing Matilda Centre was a bit expensive but keeping outback history and culture 'alive', and it was fun to see the original Waltzing Matilda by Banjo Patterson.
Winton was one of the best holiday places we have been to! We had pre-booked a lot of things we wanted to do, but we discovered so much more to do! The Matilda Museum was a fantastic start to our stay. Being able to walk up and down the main street was a lot of fun - there were some really interesting shops! The locals were really friendly and helpful. We loved the fruit shop just off the main street (on Oondooroo St) and Tattersalls Hotel has a great variety on their menu - and the meals were superb (and kid friendly)! We had Australia's Dinosaur Trail Passes and they were well worth it. Definitely leave one day for Lark Quarry (the walks were fantastic) and leave one day for Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. If you are interested in fossicking, you probably want to make Richmond an overnight stay. Hughenden was being renovated when we were there, but Porcupine Gorge is worth some extra time there too - not enough time to do everything!!
Such a lovely little town, definitely a must-do, to see the sunrises and sunsets. The views from the Age of Dinosaurs museum were absolutely breath-taking, even the drive up was stunning. If you do make it all the way up to the Dinosaur stampede 110km outside of Winton, make sure you make time to do the 3.5km hike, well-worth the effort for the magnificent views and serenity. Hopefully the Dark Sky star gallery (at the Age of Dinosaurs museum) is open next time I visit because Winton is definitely the place to star-gaze - even without a telescope, the sky is just endless. Tattersall's hotel does really yummy, quality food for lunch and dinner. The Australian hotel does an awesome pizza and even coffee and breakfast from 0600h! All in all such a great little town, must do!
Winton has a lot to offer, friendly people, great Hotels, open air cinema (which is a must visit), opal dealers, Banjo Paterson Waltzing Matilda Centre along with plenty of history / nostalgia and much more for all travelers.
We enjoyed our visit to Winton. Got much more than we expected. If you love dinosaurs, this is the place to visit. Enjoyed the Dinosaur Stampede National Monument, which was an interesting drive out to the visitor centre. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and back. Around 2 hours one-way. Look out for cattle and kangaroos! You will also collect lots of dust as half of the road is dirt roads. We only had one day and unfortunately, we couldn't do all the tours at the Australian Age of Dinosaur Museum as you need about 4 hours to do it all. We did the Waltzing Matilda Centre the next morning before resuming our travels. What a great exhibition! Give yourself plenty of time to explore. You can definitely spend a few days in town to explore everything. We didn't even get to the National Park, which we would have loved to do. We had dinner at the Winton Hotel, fantastic food and friendly people. Won't go anywhere else for dinner, unless you enjoy crowds and loud music. The hotel was a good choice for a quiet evening with great food. Will definitely visit again, next time at least 3 days.

Hamilton Retreat was a great place to base ourselves for 3 nights in Winton. The beds were comfortable and all the bedrooms were air conditioned. The kitchen was well equipped and had a lovely large fridge. Great lounge and dining table - lots of room to relax after a big day of exploring.
Great decor and artwork, well equipped kitchen. The house is old but well renovated with lots of character. Winton was in a heat wave when we arrived and we appreciated the aircon. It was great to stay somewhere a bit different to a motel room or cabin.
Great location for our family, with all the facilities we could have wished for. Lisa the host was extremely welcoming. Would recommend to family and friends travelling to Winton.
Winton
Only plus was the place was in the heart of Winton. Then again, that is not difficult considering how tiny the town is. Otherwise there was nothing to like about this stay.

Winton
Beautifully decorated and spotless. Great care has gone into this place. There is nothing else quite like it in Winton or probably outback Queensland.
We ate at the Australian Hotel for Breakfast on the Sunday morning - great value meals.
