Hotel Royal Astrid, Keizershof Hotel Aalst, and Station Hotel are some of the popular hotels in Aalst.
A small town with some pretty architecture. There are plenty of shops and eating places. It's easy enough to navigate around the centre and it feels safe at night. It's easy to get there from Brussels on the train.
It's such a good base for touring Flanders. You have Brussels, Ghent, Brugge, Antwerp and lots of other interesting towns within less than an hour by train. You can even get down south towards Kortrijk, Mons and Ieper and back in the day, or to the coast, although you have to watch the times of the late evening trains. You usually have to change in Ghent or Brussels. It is a lovely little town in its own right with a compact centre about 10-15 minutes from the hotel and full of churches, cafes and bars including several on the station square. The best one is in a side street to the right of the station opposite the cycle park. There's a market on Saturdays and a LIDL for everyday shopping.
Not far from the Channel ferries, but a much nicer place to spend the night than many of the towns on the coast. The market square is beautiful and there are lots of places to eat and drink. They seem to have quite a few local events, so there might be something extra to see

The host, Martine was the kindest and extremely attentive to the guests’ every needs, providing all the information necessary about the city and it’s culture and as well an amazing breakfast every morning if needed! Aalst is almost no doubt one of the if not the best location to stay for visiting Belgium, a city of great culture and beautiful streets! Without a doubt the BEST place to stay whenever coming to Belgium!
Aalst
The White Door is a very cosy studio with absolutely everything you could possibly want with a large garden, a huge and well-equipped kitchen and a spacious layout. The living and sleeping areas are so comfortable and - as it was cold outside - I was happy to curl up in the sofa and read a book. The location is also very nice: close to the necessary amenities such as a train station and shops, but very quiet.
The room was very spacious with a huge very comfortable double bed. The bathroom was equally large with bath and separate shower. As the temperature outside was the highest on record, the room was 16C thanks to a wonderful air conditioning. I would describe the hotel as a ‘boutique hotel’ with high end facilities. We loved it and will definitely return. Location is very conveniently in the centre of Aalst.

Excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Nice, big room. The hotel itself is beautiful. The dining room/living rooms for the guests to use were big, old grand rooms with lots of antique furniture and ornaments.
Its perfect for going to brussels or ghent or brugges. Its 1 min walk from the station and you dont hear the train at night so its perfect. The breakfast is very good for the price you are paying.
