This hotel is fabulous and it is in a choice location right across the street from miles of beach to explore or relax on. The room was exquisite. I splurged on a suite with sweeping sea views that were breathtaking. The minute you walk in the lobby you know you are in the midst of luxury and quality. The food for me was excellent but my companion didnt particularly like it. But the best thing about it was the staff. The business obviously has inculcated a culture of customer-first, customer always. They were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. We had one unfortunate experience upon checkout and we loved the place so much we actually shared with the manager, our one negative experience because I’m sure they would want to know about it and they would want to correct that attitude. However, generally, the staff was just superb. I want to give a special shout out to ADRIANA who was the sweetest, kindest, and most helpful staff person I think I’ve ever encountered.Adriana look me up on WhatsApp. Thank you for everything.

In January we found the town rather dead.

In January we found the town rather dead. In Campina where we stayed there are very few shops, many restaurants advertised on internet blogs or reviews had disappeared or were closed, opening hours did not match. Very contrasted town. The old center is dilapidated and empty, unsafe at night, the renovated parts are buzzing with life. Fantastic museums (Museum of Amazonas) and others, delicious local cuisine (never heard of it before but really quite a find)

Some of the restored areas are nice but the place in general is typical of so many Brazilian cities - dirty, run-down with rubbish everywhere. The number of people living on the street is also a concern.

Belem is a great place to visit.

Belem is a great place to visit. It has unique food, culture and friendly people. The big open market called O VER-O-PESO and the Mangal das Garças are a must to visit. In the old part of town, called Cidade Velha you might like to visit the Forte do Castelo and the Cathedral da Sé. The Sāo Brás Market is also well worth a visit.

Learn Portuguese. They don't speak English.

Learn Portuguese. They don't speak English. Find out if your credit card can use PIX. Cashless payments everywhere. Even simple vendors on the market use PIX. I recommend utinga park and Mangal da Garcas. I came last days of May, quite hot starting starting 12 o'clock. But seems to cool off again at 14 o'clock.

Belem is a port town. Use Uber or taxi at night.

Belem is a port town. Use Uber or taxi at night. Try going to the surrounding island. Very nice. No ferry Sunday to Marajo from Belem as far as I could see. Could be private ones. Not sure. Need to book one week in advance to Marajo online. Can buy tickets when your in Belem

Very basic budget hotel, more worn than what you see on the site. Some of the staff are pleasant, others would benefit from some customer service training. The manager was very nice and accommodating, however, and did his best to make our stay pleasant. Good breakfast.

This is a simple city centre hotel. Don't expect luxury. However for the money it was fantastic and the staff could not be better and the breakfast is great value. So if as an autonomous tourist you want to stay where Brazilians stay rather than a chain, stay here.

The view from the balcony and the location is why we chose this hotel. Helpful and kind staff. Good breakfast. Good standards for Brasil compared to similar hotels. The hotel didnt charge any extra for our two kids.
