Bayshore Bijou Suites in Maya Beach provides adults-only accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge and a garden. Tanya and everyone else at Bijou were absolutely amazing! Very accommodating and helpful. To he property is set back just a little from a main road and was perfectly quiet the entire stay. There is a hen house with lots of friendly chickens that roam freely and their eggs are harvested for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, for $10 USD they offer plenty of fruit, two fresh eggs, freshly baked bread (in the shape of a bird I believe), bacon and juice. So hearty and delicious! They also provide complimentary coffee during the morning hours. Filtered water is available in bounties and they even gifted me a reusable water bottle so I could finish my travels with a reusable bottle! The fact that they had washers *and* dryers was a straight up luxury! For someone that packs light for a month of travel this was such a phenomenal feature. Upon entering my room I was excited that there was so much space! The sitting room outside had a ton of plants and even a small table and chairs and a futon like couch. In one section there was even my own hammock! In the kitchen area there was a welcoming handwritten card, which I thought was a kind touch. The kitchen was just the right size for me and in the mini fridge there was not only a glass pitcher full of filtered water, but also a gift of four homemade chocolates that were delicious! Being able to take a late night dip into the pool was also a very cool experience. After a long day out adventuring it was just the right amount of refreshment needed. Not often enough are pools open 24hrs. I cannot stress enough what a lovely time I had staying at Bijou. I highly recommend staying for a visit.

Great apartment, we especially loved the visits from the raccoons and the agoutis. It's quite a trek into Placencia village, but staying local suited us well.

Want to walk along beaches with no crowds? Got it! Want great food at a variety of restaurants, by the sea? Got it! Want a choice of pools, lagoon fishing, kayaking, snorkeling or even bowling? Got it! Want to walk to reasonable groceries so you can cook or BBQ? Got it! Want to go to town for shopping and partying in under 15 minutes? Got it! Want to chill with a book and be left alone? Got it! We stayed 10 days and want to go back, like tomorrow!
The Maya Beach area is not very wide with one main road going down the middle so during peak season it takes a while to get through traffic and down to the Placencia Village. It has a great front on the clear Caribbean water and is an excellent place to pick for fun in the sun! The other side of Maya Beach faces the Placencia Peninsula lagoon, so if you enjoy fishing, kayaking, snorkeling or beach bumming then Maya Beach is a great place to visit!
An amazing place! The staff were so friendly & helpful! The service was more than you could hope for & the food was delicious! Beautiful place to unwind and get away from it all yet a short drive to the restaurants & bars of the Village. Between the views, the pool & the Caribbean, we never left the property!!
Beautiful quiet area about a 10 minute cab ride from Placencia. Some good restaurants within walking distance, a grocery for basic supplies and beautiful beach views. Kayak paddle to False Caye for snorkeling is a must!
Maya Beach is a quiet village along the Placencia peninsula. I stayed at the Bayshore Bijou and it was a amazing experience. Maya Beach has great restaurants like Mangos and the Bistro. It is for a mature audience, no partying and craziness happening in Maya Beach.
Nice beach and area. Taxi into town takes aabout 30 minutes and about $20 us each way but the quiet returning is heaven after a visit to Placentia or outing. The city bus is close only $1. It’s kind of fun but busy and doesn’t run real often. Lots of great tours and dives trips etc that will include Pick up transportation and lunch. The Bistro restaurant is really good! You can find fancy and casual eats nearby as well as on site.
