At first booking I thought it would just be a place to rest the head. But once settled in we were extremely happy with the accommodation and felt very lucky that we found this place. Defiantly worth it.

A great place that has beautiful hiking trails, views for...

A great place that has beautiful hiking trails, views for days, friendly service everywhere and experiences for all members of the family. Highly recommend to visit anytime of the year. Traveling up to the Pacific Rim National Park and all the different beaches is easy relatively quick (less than 45 minutes to Tofino). Visit the Aquarium as its got some amazing experiences (touch sea stars) and learn about local sea life.

Ucluelet was a sweet little town with some great hiking...

Ucluelet was a sweet little town with some great hiking trails and nice beaches. People were very friendly and we had a couple of nice meals in town during the day. Restaurants and food delivery was a challenge at night though so make sure you have some groceries on hand. Getting around was very easy - good signage to get to the trails and beaches.

Great little town on the west coast of North America.

Great little town on the west coast of North America. Keep going west and the next stop is Japan. Beautiful coastline, lots of sea life (otters, whales, seals, salmon, etc), deer, etc. As a result restaurants and food suppliers have a variety of fresh local seafood options, whether dining out or cooking at home. The Pacific coast is spectacular.

I liked the location, the beds and bedding, the staff and ease of staying at the hostel. Could have signing more visible from road…and dimmer light in dorm. Ucluelet is great fun. Ancient Trees trail is awesome.

Ucluelet is lovely. I would love to go there again.

Ucluelet is lovely. I would love to go there again. Unfortunately due to a bad experience with a hotel operator there we have decided not to return. It really is a shame when one short sighted business man ruins an otherwise lovely place to go.

The walking trails around Ucluelet are lovely, but short and...

The walking trails around Ucluelet are lovely, but short and very busy. You can do pretty much all of them in one day if you're a walker. There's a great hike up Mt Ozzard if you're looking for something more challenging with fewer people, with great views at the top. We visited in August and it was only around 16 degrees, so we didn't spend too long on beaches. The scenery is beautiful, though you do also need to like fog/mist. There are some very nice cafes (the Break and the Heartwood Kitchen in particular) but I would suggest googling reviews before trying any. In terms of shops, there's a mix of tourist/souvenir stuff and more interesting art/lifestyle boutiques. Different shops/cafe close on different days, so familiarise yourself with opening hours to avoid disappointment. You can walk from one end of the main town road to the other in around 20 mins. There's also the harbour area with a few shops and cafes. There's whale watching, kayaking, bear watching and fishing trips, though these aren't cheap and there are no discounts for using the same company multiple times. Most importantly: the lighthouse has a foghorn attached and whenever it's foggy the horn sounds every 20 seconds, including through the night which is when it's mostly foggy. We visited in August and the horn blew through the night at least 50% of our week-long stay. So if you can't sleep through a foghorn, this may not be the place for you to stay. But it's definitely worth a day or two's visit. The fog obviously limits views during the daytime, and can give the place a dreary feel, though when we were there it tended to dissipate by lunchtime-ish.

Everything! Chris' place was an absolute gem. The suite itself was stunning, with a bathroom to die for. Then there is the view, which is beautiful. We saw a bear, eagle and heron all from the comfort of our own little deck. Chris' breakfasts were also a lovely treat. We loved the location - an easy walk into Ucluelet and we would highly recommend this place!

Very spacious room. Super comfortable beds. Nicely stocked kitchenette. Loved that they had "quiet times". The desk staff were very helpful. I would recommend anyone planning to visit Ucluelet or Tofino to stay here. Tofino is too busy. Ucluelet is the place to be and West Coast Motel is the place to stay.
