Hotel in Leysin
Hôtel La Tour d'Aï was built in 1899 in the heart of the village of Leysin. It is a small charming hotel surrounded by beautiful mountains, within a cordial framework, convivial and comfortable. This is the 3rd time I have stayed at Hôtel La Tour d'Aï in Leysin, Switzerland. The purpose of my visit in February, 2019 was to go snow skiing in the Swiss Alps. I had a room with a view of the mountains including "les Dents du Midi" accross Lake Geneva. The staff are very knowledgeable, polite, and helpful. The morning breakfast buffet was excellent. There are so many little extras in the decoration of this classic hotel with the ceiling paneling and most furniture built out of solid pine. It is very clean and well maintained. Leysin is a beautiful village in French speaking Switzerland. I hope to visit there again.

Enjoyed the balcony and the beautiful views! Close to train station too.

The fondue was excellent and they have a selection of nice local beers. Breakfast was a great selection of homemade breads and jams plus the normal buffet items. But best of all however, if you’re really lucky you’ll get a visit from their lovely ginger cat who seems always keen for a snuggle. Perfect location for exploring the area on our bikes.

Nice resort, a bit small, good for beginners, not too busy, cool snow park, relatively affordable (for Swiss standards), almost no drag lifts (in Leysin itself). Unfortunately it was too warm when I was there (February 2020) so the snow was not really good, but other than that it's great for a long weekend.
I was in Leysin, Switzerland for a week of snow skiing. There are several very nice restaurants, hotels and gift shops in this Swiss village. I mailed several gifts from the post office, which is conveniently located in the middle of the village . I rode the mountain train up from Aigle, Switzerland. There is a free bus service to travel around the area. I rented snow skis at a shop right across from the Gondola base station.
Leysin is incredible for skiing. Maybe not if your a complete beginer but just going up the ski lift is a must even if you don’t ski up the mountains. The views are incredible and the restaurant is lush. Tabogganing Park is a day trip as the walk is lovely and the actual tabogganing is about of fun especially for kids. The train station is very good for finding out information. There is apparently car hire available for about £60 per day at the car garage. We used trains and buses which were easy to use and always on time to get to places like the glacier 3000 (allow plenty of time) and Les Bains De Lavey natural thermal outdoor pool which was well worth the trip. People in Switzerland tend to be indoors after dark and out early in the morning to make the most of the day. If you have a car you can get around easy and quick. Taxis are stupidly expensive. Trains lovely but time consuming. Supermarkets are sparse but so much cheaper for drinks and snacks.
In the mountains so it is very hilly! Leysin is about 1000m above sea level. The cable car goes up a further 1000m and lots of good hikes up there. Also climbing. Massively sporty. The youth games for 2020 are in Leysin so facilities excellent. Definitely a great place for hiking and thinking and writing. There are a number of water fountains around with gorgeous mountain filtered water which tastes beautifully clean. Many places take euros as well as Swiss francs and the supermarkets vary in price with the cheaper one tucked away.
To begin with, The location could not be any better in that time of the year. We went in the last week of June and it was quite hot considering the country and it's usual climate. But the surrounding beauty and it's essence was utterly brilliant. The hotel was absolutely magnificent to stay. We were two families sharing three bedrooms. We were really happy with the service we received and they really do try all their best to please their customers and make them feel at home. The reception lady was extremely generous to stay till 12 at midnight to give us the keys despite them finishing an hour earlier. There is free parking and their morning breakfast with the gorgeous view will left you wanting more. Alas, our stay was only for a night but we will definitely be coming back again next year. Thank you for a "classic" stay and keep up the good work. I will definitely be recommending my friends and family.
Leysin is a beautiful ski resort town high up in the Swiss Alps. It has a cable car ride to the mountain La Berneuse which is 2048m high. The cable car even took our dogs! A great experience to reach the top where the views are breathtaking. There is a rotating restaurant and a bar to chill out. We ate at Davinda's one evening and had fajitas which were great and the restaurant was dog friendly. We also ate at Th Lynx which is a Chinese restaurant not far from Davinda's. They are also dog friendly. We had a lovely sweet and sour chicken and rice. If you are fit it is easy getting around Leysin but it is quite hilly. There are car parks and spaces to park near the shops. There are many sporting activities available in Leysin as well as health and beauty clinics. Leysin is very clean and there are even bags available to clear up after your dog.
Very roomy and pretty. Great unit. Would be really good for a family with children. The beds are comfortable Kitchen nice. Very large living room. Close to slopes.
