Hotel in Bahía Solano
The Hotel Bahía Yubarta features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Bahía Solano. Comfortable beds and perfectly working air-con (what is necessary in that climate). The pool in the garden was not necessary for us when we made a reservation, but due to the weather conditions we used it every day. Nice and helpful staff. The restaurant recommended by the hotel was also great. They serve great fishes.

Offering a terrace, Paraiso Escondido is located in Bahía Solano in the Mecana sector. Just a 15 minute boat trip away or 55 minute walk through the beach from the town. Set on a beautiful black sand beach between the Pacific Ocean and the mangrove this place is something special. While there are similar places within walking distance it really feels like you are completely on your own. Supposedly you can walk from the town (Bahía Solano) but I recommend that you travel by boat (approximately 15 minutes along the coast). This should be arranged with the caretaker as well as food. This is not included in the price on Booking.com but WhatsApp and some Spanish proficiency (or machine translation) is your friend. I believe we were the first guests to stay at the new lodge that is placed behind the old one. The accommodation is simple but also just right with a mosquito net on each bed (not that we were bothered by mosquitoes), a fan and a toilet with a shower. While there are lamps in and around I suggest bringing a headlamp if you like to read in the dark. The (typical Colombian) food was amazing. The caretaker pampered us every day asking us what we would like, when we wanted to eat, bringing coffee in the morning, making lunch boxes when we were going on tour etc. If more groups visit the place at the same time she might not be quite as flexible but we certainly enjoyed the tailored service. You can relax in one of the hammocks and this might be the best option while you are waiting for a torrential shower to pass. The beach has a mostly flat profile and a significant tide. However, at high tide the profile becomes steep and with the swell coming in I recommend to only get into the water if you have some swimming proficiency. We borrowed a sit-on-top kayak for two (and possibly a small child) and two body boards. The caretaker brought us to a local village and a waterfall in his boat. You can also walk around five minutes along the beach to Mecana Ecohotel where they can arrange for trips in the jungle or to the Utría National Park. Quite surprisingly, that lodge has WiFi.

Offering a garden, Playa de Oro Lodge is located in Bahía Solano. Free WiFi is available . There is a private bathroom with a shower in each unit. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. The lodge is located in Playa Huína, close to Bahía Solano. We were picked up at the airport in Bahía Solano by a driver who drove us to the port and we were then transported to Playa Huína by boat. All perfectly arranged by the accommodation! The lodge is on a quite beach, surrounded by the jungle, the ocean and the modest houses of the villagers who live there. It’s really the perfect place to escape from everything and everyone. We were able to go diving and we did an excursion to playa de los deseos, booked via the lodge. Both are highly recommended! The staff at the lodge is really amazing and really wants to make you feel at home. The hotel manager, Eduardo, is a wonderful guy. He is extremely friendly, attentive, helpful, funny and he made us some / a lot of delicious cocktails (plus he’s a real magician with cards!). We would definitely recommend this place if you’re going to this area!

It's a good central place for excursions. But the town itself isn't a nice place. No beach, often rain, the people are reservated and don't great. But if open them, they are friendly. I have eaten in 'El Fogón del Chef'. Good place here, but expensive. The walk to Playa Mecana and the experience in Mecana was great. Look for the tide!
An amazing place to travel and take a break from our city-rush lives. It's a natural paradise, full of virgin beaches, exotic animals, warm people, perfect climate (a little bit humid, but not a problem) and delicious sea food. Fully recommend this place for Eco-travelers.
Rodrigo was the best host we ever had!! A most enthusiastic specialist of the Fauna y Flora of the region! We absolutely loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer! To be very much recommended. Thanks to Rodrigo!
The town is really small and the beach in the bay is not one you'd go swimming in. We went in May which happed to be their rainy month. It absolutely POURED the whole time. All the roads in the town are dirt so everything was really muddy. The lightnight made the power go out a few times and also caused the only ATM in town to be out of service the whole time we were there. There is no other way to get cash in the town if you aren't a member of their bank, so bring more cash than you think you'll need just in case. Credit cards are not accepted anywhere, even the hotel. That being said, the people were generally pretty friendly. The local food was good and cheap. The jungle surrounding the town is beautiful. We didn't get to do many of the hikes or day trips the El Valle or other, nicer beaches because of the rain, but there is potentially a lot to see and do.
