It was great place if you like salsa to learn the cali way. That was deal destination for it. Unfortunately we got lost and we went to undesirable places, it was scary and even taxies didn't want to stop to take us on board. When you go to Cali center take Uber because the walk can be dangerous.

The riverfront walkway and San Antonio are definitely the areas to visit but we also enjoyed an Alameda market food tour to get a sense of a normal neighborhood. One of the highlights was Cristo Rey hill, although that takes a little planning because you have to reserve a timeslot in advance (free) and arrange a taxi or Uber to get there. Salsa is also a highlight and is pretty much everywhere. While in some posts Cali has gets a bad rap for safety, we felt completely safe walking around during the day and on the riverfront and San Antonio at night, of course being aware of our surroundings.

The city has such a vibe.

The city has such a vibe. And i found it much safer than I imagined, but the traffic is a nightmare. Use the Mio - super cheap and efficient - and if you can use the Mio cable car up to Siloe. Waunana restauant was great. The market (Galeria Alameda) is wonderful, especially for fruit. Off the beaten path, but the Casa de las Memorias del conflicto y la reconciliación is an amazing space on memorialisation and restoration after this history of conflict in Cali and the Pacific region. I was there for the Cali Marathon - such a great atmosphere.

Never felt in danger although we didn’t venture on foot to unknown areas. Taxi drivers tend to slightly overcharge or go the longest route. Have your destiantion on your GPS to make sure you know the shortest route. A Small tip is most welcome.

A very gritty town with little of interest outside the...

A very gritty town with little of interest outside the historic district, and very little even there. I love all the bakeries outside the downtown area, especially along Pasoancho (Calle 13th) and everywhere in the suburbs. Not on my list of places to go back to.And a taxi driver jiggled his meter at the end of my last trip to the bus station to make it read 50% higher...I caught him.

Cali is super friendly and diverse in its design.

Cali is super friendly and diverse in its design. Barrio San Antonio is beautiful and a must see. Also make sure that you visit Parque de Perros and the park of the cats on the river side. You will find good priced food, La Sirena is highly recommended for seafood, you can find it in the Jardin PLaza mall or , even better, at the Alameda market.

My friend and I felt like home. The flat is spacious, it has a well-equipped kitchen and even a washing machine we could make use of. Everything was spotless and looked brand new. We enjoyed Netflix and the quiet area. The host was always available to help. Shops and supermarkets are all within walking distance from the flat. The area seemed safe, and we (2 girls) did not have issues going out around 7 p.m. to buy/have dinner. Plus the price was so cheap compared to what we had paid previously in Colombia.

The fact that we had an apartment with a full kitchen, when I thought we only had a hotel room! Loved the restaurant/bar area. Fantastic breakfast. After now staying in around 10 different places in Cali this is by far my favourite. Choice of breakfast (pandebono waffles!) and plenty of it. The brunch options looked amazing.

Wonderful authentic Columbian Casa. Owner and staff so friendly. The owner went out of her way to help with a flight delay and car rental cancellation despite the language barrier. Just an amazing, hospitable person and she leaves a fantastic, warm memory of San Antonio, Cali.
