Very nice place in the wilderness where you can spot many animals. The mangrove tour is a must, we saw all types of monkeys and many crocodiles, our kids were amazed. Angelica is a very nice person and we felt at home.

David and his family were so friendly and welcoming. Elena's food was healthy, delicious and varied. Fresh fruit and jucies every day! If David found an animal or insect of interest, he came to find us, to show us, which was so nice. The room was rustic but very clean. And the nearest beach was absolutely amazing. We were the only ones on it most of the time. Couple of points to note: You will be asked to pay by PayPal which is fine. And the other, which is what I got called out on, is that cash is the preferred payment method for everything. But there is NO ATMS anywhere in Drake Bay. So you must bring enough money for everything you need; food, excursions and don't forget.. the boat back! Luckily David let me overpay on the stay and he gave me the cash back.

We have visited Costa Rica on two separate occasions, and this place is by far the favorite place that we stayed in. It is a peaceful paradise! We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds and animals coming through (while we were on the property we saw toucans (daily), capuchin monkeys (daily), hummingbirds (daily), woodpeckers (daily), wild turkeys (daily), agoutis (daily), spider monkeys, coatis and heard howler monkeys (daily). There are great trails that run along the coast, leading to some beautiful, peaceful and isolated beaches. On these trails we saw sloths, lots of monkeys, snakes, iguanas, basilisk lizards, scarlet macaws and lots of other birdlife. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk downhill and is a great place to watch the sunset! The apartments are basic but had everything we needed. Guillermo is absolutely fantastic - nothing is too much trouble. He organizes everything (all transfers / lifts back from drake bay / trips to corcovado national park / snorkelling), communicates really well and is incredibly patient, kind and thoughtful. His family are also incredibly nice. I visited Sunset Tucano Lodge with my mum and partner and we're all in agreement about how fantastic this place is. We strongly recommend this place if you want to get away from it all and enjoy Costa Rica's fantastic nature!

Great spot with perfect view of the beach. We were greeted on the beach by the host who also brought us a welcome drink. Steps away from restaurants and stores just up the hill.

The place has beautiful gardens with a stunning view of Drake Bay waters from the pool deck and dining area. The food is outstanding and the staff are very solicitous to ensure your comfort. Communication with Mary at reception during the stay is excellent. We booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and we were given the cabin with adjoining rooms that overlooks the river pond. The rooms were spacious, clean, modern and comfortable with a large deck. The aircon and hot water worked well, except that there was a region wide power outage for a few hours during our first day, and a problem with the water pump on our second day, which was fixed as soon as possible. I was impressed that the lodge on its own initiative gave us a partial refund for the inconvenience caused, even though it was not their fault. That’s customer service. The other thing we loved was the abundance of bird and wildlife at the property. We saw coatis, a crocodile, otter, capuchin monkeys, toucans, macaws, hawks, humming birds, etc. This is a place where one can kick back and relax and soak in nature. The beach is 3 minutes walk below the lodge (although the best swimming area is further down the beach), and there’s a tower one can climb with a fantastic view. One thing to note is that the cabin we stayed in was 70 steps below the main lodge area, which was not a problem for us, but you may wish to ask for a cabin in the main area.

Our family just wrapped up a 3 night stay at Hidden Paradise lodge and it was a dream. Beautiful, authentic and just perfect for what we wanted as a family. The staff are so kind, attentive, helpful and true pura vida vibes. We loved every breakfast and dinner so much. The pool was fabulous! Mariela, Jorge and Ryan helped us organize our day trips and we were extremely pleased!! We will be back!
