Quiet, rural but totally idyllic... you need a car or torch for getting to anywhere in the evenings. The town has fabulous resturants but is still small and non-touristic. We could not find any fault with Polis and will be returning next year.
Pleasant enough town but becoming too touristy. Quite a few empty, run down shops detract from area. The Old Town restaurant by far the best in town. Also try Pas to Kima in Argaka and Restamare, Poto Latchi and Yialos in Latchi.
First room we were shown to was dirty and smelt of stale smoke overlooking the main road. We were moved to another room after waiting 30 minutes for it to be cleaned. We checked in and this room had 2 x beds with dirty linen - visibly stained! The bed had NOT been changed. The room again smelt of stale smoke. The pool has broken drain covers around it and the safety rings are used as pool toys. The playground is derelict and fenced off, as is the table tennis area. The Reasturant is closed. We checked out after only one night… this is not a nice place to stay.
Much less ‘touristy’ than Paphos. Beautiful countryside, really genuinely friendly people. Lots of artisanal shops, restaurants, tavernas and activities available. The mountains and forests are a welcome break from the beautiful beaches and sea.
Polis Chrysochous is a beautiful area. Not so good for families with older children as we didn't see much for them to do. Its better suited to the older holiday maker or walkers that do hills. A hire car is a must as the area is great for exploring and public transport is not so good. The main roads are good but once you leave them the smaller roads are unmade and very rough. We managed to travel to all parts of the Cypriot side taking in Troodos Mountains and Limasol as well as Paphos.
Polis Chrysochous is a bit far, but on the other hand, you are rewarded by arriving at a slightly smaller place that, in a way has its charm. We stayed in a villa a distance away, ate at a restaurant only one day, and did not visit the beaches near Polis Chrysochous, but the small village worked well for what we used it for; shopping for groceries and using the ATM. We will remember most from Polis Chrysochous the evening swims at a local beach below the house and the hike we took up to the mountain behind. It was An amazing journey with a vast view from the top, but what made it memorable was the sunset at the top. It ended with a two-hour-long journey down a relatively steep mountainside, first in the red light of a setting sun but eventually in the light of two iPhones. No injuries occurred, but we will never forget it.
When I saw the rating of the hotel I was skeptical, but after all everything was ok. I understand that some people are giving bad reviews because they expect much more than they should expect from a 2-star hotel. People feel they are misled but there is nothing misleading about the place. Read the description well before you book. What it says there is what you get. Nothing more, nothing less. Stuff is great. There were knocking on the door everyday asking me if i want the room to be cleaned or if i need something.
It was in a nice secluded spot on the beach with its own pool & snack bar . Breakfast was simple but tasty & the hotels restaurant was good with a great deal for half board at €16 with loads of choice for an A La Carte meal including fresh seafood . The air-con in the room was good which is important in the heat . I was surprised how nice this hotel was as it’s very reasonably priced .

The studio was jus perfect! Staying at Tina's place made our last days in Cyprus just great. Really comfy, very clean and super super cozy. Great view from the terrace, delicious, fresh-baked biscuits, we could collect few oranges to make fresh juice and we even had a chance to cuddle with the owner's cat. Really lovely stay even if the weather was tricky during this time.
A very quite and comfortable hotel. It's located well outside the city and the only sound you'll hear will be sea hitting the shore. Sea view is outstanding - Crysochou bay is perhaps the most picturesque bay in Cyprus. Hotel's loan and garden are very beautiful. Wifi is very good (in contrast to more expensive places). Breakfast was modest but tasty.

Katina and Bambo are the sweetest , most accommodating people. Being at this hotel felt like a home away from home. The hotel was extremely clean and the food was amazing. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended staying at this hotel if you ever stay in Cyprus! I loved my stay and would definitely come again.
One of the few remaining family-ran hotels in Cyprus, true boutique hospitality. We visited just after the 2021 renovation and everything has been redone to a high standard. Need to mention the typical hotel restaurant that never closes and it's stunning views. I could go on..
Polis Chrysochous
Nice small apart hotel. Very welcoming manager. Explained everything and greeted us with the cyprus coffee and pie. Very nice location. Clean, quiet, 3...4 minutes drive to the beaches. The apartment is fully suitable for 2 people. Highly recommended
Polis Chrysochous
I absolutely love this place! Best place we've stayed in in Cyprus. Everything was exceptional, but particularly the bed (my husband is over 2 meters tall, and it's always hard to find beds that are big enough).
