The charm of this enchanting fairy tale city in the Czech Republic is best experienced during winter when snow covers magical Český Krumlov Castle. Lying along the banks of the Vltava River, the historic old town comes alive during summer when cafes and restaurants overflow with the influx of tourists.
The castle makes an imposing backdrop against narrow cobblestone streets and a mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture in its old buildings. Choose an art gallery, museum or theatre like the 17th-century
Castle Baroque Theatre, located inside the castle’s beautiful gardens.
Walking around Český Krumlov’s historic streets is a journey back in time, and the best way to soak up its Bohemian atmosphere. Your walk can be easily interrupted at one of the many cafés, restaurants and bars serving local dishes and drinks.
As the home of pilsner beer and the original Budweiser beer, the Czech Republic has a long tradition of brewing. Pivovar Eggenberg is a brewery dating back to the 14th-century and provides tours of the brewing process.

A wonderful little jewel box w very warm radiance.
A wonderful little jewel box w very warm radiance. Just perfect for a long , romantic weekend (ie 3-4 days). Culture, food, BEER, athmosphere, history, all in one.
Rafting is a must, there are several spots and firms that offer raft or canoe rent, I recommend starting from Kemp Vltavan (just outside the city upstream, accessible on foot in 30 min) for a 1-2hour paddling or Kemp Viking (9-10km upstream) if one wants to spend 3-4 h on the water. (Raft rental companies offer bus shuttle services between start and stop spots).
Zamek (Castle) Hluboka in the near (45min by car) is a MUST - it is a 4-6 hours of programme w/o travel. Tour in the original (!) Budweiser brewery in Ceske Budejovice (30-35min by car) and Rozmberk Castle upstream (30min by car) is a option as well..

I live in Prague, so Cesky Krumlov is not far away.
I live in Prague, so Cesky Krumlov is not far away. It is an amazingly beautiful town, with many activities from art to rafting. It can be crowded in the summer, but still worth visiting for a night or two. I highly recommend it for a couple nights out of Prague and if you can visit in June or September you will love it. It's still great in July and August, but fairly busy. Not so much to do in the winter, but very quiet and relaxed if that's what you want.

This is maybe one of the most picturesque little towns in the country, with spectacular views from the castle on the meandering river and the town. It's not kitschy, though. People are friendly, there is a lot to see, food is fine, and, surprisingly, it was not overcrowded in mid-July.
