This harbor side hotel is just 984 feet from Hirtshals Train Station, the Norwegian ferry terminal and a sandy beach. It offers marina and sea views, plus free Wi-Fi and private parking. I guess we weren’t having high expectations and we just really like the room. It overlooked the little port and was quite large with a nice bathroom. The staff was nice, breakfast good. It was not fancy but just right for us.

Hotel Strandlyst, dating back to 1895, is located on the north-west coast of Jutland. The ferry terminal in Hirtshals is a 5-minute drive away, where you also find the North Sea Aquarium. Location is close to the ferry terminal. Parking spot was available on site. Room had comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Our ferry delayed quite a bit so we had no chance to reach the hotel on time for the latest check-in. However, even then we got all necessary information + keys waiting for us at the reception.

A great place to stay when travelling between Denmark and Norway. A 2 minute drive to the ferry terminal. Dinner had a good selection and was delightful, with excellent service. The breakfast had everything you could need and was beautifully presented and fresh.
I travelled through a part of Hirtshals to the harbour so I didn't see much of it. But my staying in Tornby Guesthouse for two nights made my journey worth while! You can see some photo's of the Tornby Guesthouse.
Hirtshals has great beaches, fine sand, toilet, parking. Very praktical for people coming with a ferry from Norway and also great just as a destination on it's own. There is a big Aquarium there. Great Connection to the highway. Hirtshals camping is very comfortable, very clean, very nice reception.
Small harbour city with around 6000 habitants. You can find great local food influenced by the sea. You can try some of it at Hirtshals Fiskehus ApS, just in the harbour. Also the city has the largest oceanarium of the Northern Europe, quite an interesting experience. Don't forget to visit the lighthouse and WW2 bunkers nearby it, lighthouse has an excellent view and bunkers are quite good preserved despite they are abandoned. Anyway, if you're looking for calm place with great views and nature, bright local vibe, at reasonable prices (for Denmark) that's the palce you should go.
Great location for exploring the Atlantic Wall relics from World War Two and the lovely sandy beaches. Skagen and the northern tip of Jutland 50 minute drive away. Lots of lovely seafood places to eat in town and supermarkets for your grocery shop.
The North Sea Oceanarium was my favourite attraction by far. Impressive exhibits and marine life and very interesting and informative displays and interactive databases. Very exciting to watch the seals and fish being fed and fun video games pretending to be a mackerel eluding the predators of the ocean. The church was very disappointing, there was no guidebook in English to inform me about what I was looking at and I found it to be lacking in comprehensive information and exhibits regarding its history. The lighthouse was cool to visit and had an impressive view at the top of Hirtshals and the surrounding Hjørring Municipality. However, Hirtshals lighthouse I also found to be lacking in English-language information and I felt like I missed out on absorbing the significance of where I was because all the information plaques and signs were in either German or Danish. More should be done to accommodate English-speaking visitors. The bunker museum was interesting and I enjoyed seeing the remains of the German defence installation. However, there should be information signs in English here too as there were none available to me. Hirtshals town is itself beautiful though and I would recommend it to visitors looking for a weekend away in northern Jutland at Tappen af Danmark. There are many boutiques and shops available and some nice cosy restaurants and bars with friendly staff too. The beach itself is stunning and perfect for a stroll or a place to walk the dog. There are beachside facilities for caravans and campervans too and on a sunny day Hirtshals is absolutely beautiful.
We loved how big the room was and the balcony with a view of the harbour. The location was quiet but still close to everything. We were able to walk both to the lighthouse and the aquarium. The staff were very nice and the stay was lovely! We were staying in Hirtshals incidentally, not as our main destination, but it was worth staying at least two nights or more! It's a very relaxing place to spend a few days.
Spacious room close to the railway station and ferry terminals. Good breakfast. You´ll probably not spend more than one night in Hirtshals and Hotel Hirtshals is adequate in that case.
