Boasting barbecue facilities and a terrace, Casavieja Rural offers accommodation in Abiada with free WiFi and mountain views. The property is 47 km from La Franca and free private parking is offered. Not the traditional breakfast in that the host supplied goods for self service. Lydia, the host speaks only Spanish which was no problem for us but should be borne in mind for English speaking guests. The facilities were excellent for quiet and relaxing experience in rural surroundings. A short walk takes you to the next village of Abiada where we found an excellent cantina with reasonable drinks and food. The host, Fernando, speaks very good English. Excellent location to visit this beautiful valley. We went here for the skiing at Alto Campoo but the weather was too nice for snow which was conspicuous by its absence. Disappointing for keen skiers in our group but marvellous for the less keen. All in all it was an excellent stay and the area is recommended. It was our third visit and we will go again.
Set by Hijar Mountain Range in Hermandad Campoo de Suso, Posada Rural Lindos Sueños is located in Entrambasaguas. The staff are so happy and welcoming. The location is magnificent and I wanted so much to thing how I could rate this a 4.9 out of 5 ( surely nothing is perfect ) but I couldn’t. It’s perfect. The room was beautifully decorated and exceptionally comfortable. The honesty bar is a brilliant idea , no expensive mini bars just correctly priced items.
Set in a beech forest and offering a restaurant, Las Indianas is located in Villar, 3 km from Campoo de Suso. It features a garden and a sun terrace with mountain views. Excellent Cantabrian place with honour and beauty everywhere. La nobleza. Not for the madding crowds.
Bright, heated rooms at Posada Ormas are set in charming country houses with a central patio. Alto Campoó Ski Slopes are just 30 minutes’ drive from Ormas. Great value, good food great position for Santander ferry. Will certainly use this hotel again.
Need an ability to speak and understand Spanish to really get the most of the this wonderful area. Tourist facilities are excellent though geared to Spanish tourism. Nothing in Hoz de Abadia except peace and tranquility but excellent walking to other facilities. Not for those who want the life and vibrancy of the costas. They don’t know what they are missing! I say this having lived in the south of Spain for many years. It is perfect for older people who love nature.
