Beautifull city, good to stay for a couple of days, cozy streets, airport is very close. The city is in the middle of the island, very convenient to visit other places. It's not very touristic, that's why you can find lots of tipical local places to eat, shops, but be ready to use the google translation if you don't speak spanish. People are very freindly. It’s a handy base to explore other areas of the island. Had I stayed longer I would have travelled by local coach to other destinations. The convenience of Arrecife is that it’s less than ten minutes (drive) from the airport and accommodation seemed more reasonable than the other areas. The port is nice, other than that, there is not much to see.
