Was like being at home. So comfortable, welcoming, absolutely stunning. Service was incredible. I was leaving early so they set out a breakfast for me so I didn’t leave without eating. So thoughtful and beautiful.

The view from the window over the plaza was lovely - double glazed windows ensured the external noise was reduced. The church bell tolling the hours was delightful.

A very interesting and clean city.

A very interesting and clean city. Lots to visit from the cathedral, Gaudi Palace, parks as well as some great bars and restaurants. The lounge of the Hotel Gaudi (opposite the palace) can be recommended for a drink. Very comfortable and reasonably priced. Also, some highlights in the surrounding area - Leon and Las Médulas.

The Gaudi palace was amazing and well worth the visit for that alone. Really enjoyed the 3D immersive experience too which they also had in the Cathedral. Had time to visit the Roman Museum but not the chocolate factory as only had the one night. Ate in the main plaza and as it was a Monday not everything was open but Tuesday morning there was more choice for breakfast. Main sights are all within walking distance

If you are a fan of Gaudi's architecture , a lover of history, or a Camino Pilgrim, then this town is a must for a couple of days visit. The old city is easy to navigate on foot. The chocolate museum is also worthwhile if your time allows. If we were traveling by car then I think we should have liked to stay an additional night and explore some of the surrounding area. As it was we were slowly making our way by bus from Santiago de Compostella to fly out of Madrid after having walked the Portuguese Camino.

The city is interesting, particularly in the old quarter around the cathedral and Gaudi building. There are several very good value hotels in the centre of the city and many restaurants which tend to be busy.

Astorga is a lovely town with plenty to see for a weekend...

Astorga is a lovely town with plenty to see for a weekend stay. Main attraction is the Antonio Gaudi-designed Bishop's Palace (now a museum), a sort of Sleeping Beauty castle designed as a residence for the bishop of the cathedral next door. Secondly, the architecture and buildings all around town -- you can walk for hours and it's even large enough to get lost in, so bring your phone. The cathedral is sadly not very worthwhile -- drab, disorganized, you can go in but you won't stay long. Tip: Almost all shops are closed Sunday, except for the moust touristic, so do your shopping on Saturday.

We stayed for a long weekend so we could attend a wedding. The hosts were super friendly on WhatsApp and were very quick to respond. We were met and shown where things were and given the keys. Given it Was December the apartment was really cosy and warm. All the facilities we needed were on hand and catered for. If you don't know Astorga then rest assured that the location of this apartment is really good with just a short walk to all amenities and attractions. Would have no hesitation recommending or staying again! 😊

Arrived 3 hours early to ask if we could leave our bags in reception and the staff said we could check in early as a room was ready. The room was divine, peaceful, so clean and comfortable. The spa session was well worth it to rest after the camino. Pool with various jets to massage body, very good hot sauna and steam room as well as jacuzzi. We had to buy swimming caps to use in spa but there was a Chinese shop within a 5 min walk of hotel to buy for less than 2 euros.

We booked this hotel for location and it did not disappoint. It's right across the Bishop's Palace and close to the Cathedral, as well as other shops (pastries and other Astorga delicacies). I requested (and got) a room with a great view of the Bishop's Palace. The hotel has a restaurant where we enjoyed the local food (cocido Maragato) and wine. The waitstaff gave us good advice about ordering so that we did not order too much! (The servings were huge).

The apartment was lovely, very clean and very comfortable beds. The location was excellent, close to all the sights and directly on the Camino. We could pick up the keys from the Via Plata hotel 2 mins walk away where the staff were very friendly. We were very happy with our stay there.
