Bejar was ok as a jumping off point.
Bejar was ok as a jumping off point. If we were to come back to the area we would probably stay in Candolario,. a small town that is more picturesque and only 13 minutes away.
The visit to the Plaza del Toro was definitely worth the time as was walking the wall of Bejar.

We went to the Blues festival held every July in the old bull ring up in the chestnut woods above Bejar so were just wanting a room to sleep.
Bejar itself, interesting old town once centre of a thriving wool and cloth trade but feeling in decline now with closed shops. But still attractive old quarter along the Main Street linking several plazas. The main square st the bottom has the theatre, and cámara oscura which is worth a visit. As well as the route of the mill industry, sculpture museum, Jewish quarter. The surrounding country side is very pretty for walking, cycling. Visit particularly Candelario traditional centre of artisan sausages etc with streams channels down the streets and large traditional alpine houses, and Baños de Mibtenayor, spa town.

Bejar is an underrated town from the international tourist...
Bejar is an underrated town from the international tourist point of view. It's real advantage in charm is that it is almost completely unspoilt by tourism and well worth a visit as it is a well-preserved and photogenic town. It is a medieval fortified town standing on a plateau above ravine. The scenery is great on a clear day. The Sierra Del Bejar is good for walking and exploring.

The people who run it were very kind and helpful. Despite our pocito Spanish, they managed to communicate everything we needed to know. The man gave us a map of the town and showed us things to see. We could store our touring bicycles securely in a room on the ground floor. Our room was quite large (twin deluxe).
Béjar has a fascinating textile museum; while lacking in interpretative information, it is extensive and interesting nonetheless.

This is a very good hotel, clean, modern with friendly staff (Hector was very welcoming and helpful, especially in helping me to store my bicycle safely. It doesn't look much from the outside but don't be put off, it's very nice inside. The location is a little out of town on one of the roads leading out, but easy to get to the Plaza Mayor in a 15 minute walk. All in all, a neat little place

Amazing views over Bejar and towards Sierra de la Pena Francia to the west. Conveniently located near the motorway. There is a good restaurant and a couple more nearby.

Old Hotel locates near motorway. 20 mins walk to town centre / square and dogs friendly. It's quite dated but has it charms. Perfect for overnight transit.
