beautiful historic buildong. The receptiinist, was super nice and helpful. We arrived late and no restaurant in the village was open, so she offered to ooen the dining hall especially for us and managed to serve us a nice dinner even though it was out of hours and probbably not her expertese.

Castell de Vallagornera is nothing short of heaven. The location, the building, the land and the history make it such a pleasant place to find an escape. The location forces you to relax with a soft hand - so needed after a busy year. Frans and his team ensured we were comfortable, welcomed and looked after our entire time there. This new hotel is underrated - 3 stars is too little. I expect now is your chance to see this place before it receives its 4th if not 5th star. I would recommend everyone stays with them sooner than later before they’re fully booked for the foreseeable future.

Wow! What a wonderful stay we had in a charming, tranquil setting, soaking up the surroundings and enjoying some peace and quiet. And all made even more spectacular thanks to Thiago whose passion for the local area and b&b permeates. The breakfast was amazing especially after enjoying the poolside morning yoga session. We had a wonderful meal cooked by Thiago with delicious local wines. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer! We will definitely go back! Thank you Thiago 🙏

The location was good. Booking in was easy. The bed was comfy and big. Two singles lashed together. The shower was great and the aircon worked. Downstairs was an adjoining buffet. Good food and reasonable prices. Tip ; If booking Saturday night do it well in advance as the French descend like an invading army and book it up for the buffet, shopping and probably the bingo!!

Espolla is a fairly remote village but beautifully located...

Espolla is a fairly remote village but beautifully located towards the Pyrenees. Easy to access and plenty of near villages with great restaurants. There is a bar restaurant in the village but we did not try is this trip. Chez Louisette in Garriguella is not to be missed ( our fifth visit and just as good ). A new tapas bar at the bio winery in Rabos was superb....and near by Peralada has a few superb restaurants ( not to mention the cellar winery, and welk known summer festivals ) and even better fish restaurant next to the castle...you are about 30 minutes from the coast and all this has to offer....
