Gran Tarajal is a hidden gem on Fuerteventura's south-east coast, offering an authentic Canary Island experience. A laid-back, genuine local atmosphere makes this a must-visit for those seeking a tranquil escape from the busier tourist centres, all of which are within an hour's drive. Gran Tarajal's black sand beach is stunning. It also has a rich cultural flair, offering everything from quaint shops to modern amenities. It's perfect for travellers who appreciate simplicity, natural beauty and a taste of local culture. Highly recommended!

Gran Tarajal is a lovely local town, on the beach front.

Gran Tarajal is a lovely local town, on the beach front. This is a great spot to visit, if you want to avoid the chaos of a touristy spot. Locals are very friendly and the nighttime atmosphere is great. Hornolandia pasteleria & panderia is an amazing bakery. Pastries are amazing and coffee is fantastic. Amazing value for money. Picolla Italia Gran Tarajal - This place is always busy, for a reason. The Pizza is terrific and innexpensive. They serve up a delicious tiramisu too! Plenty of local super markets and easy access to resources in the area.

Gran Tarajal is a lovely little Spanish town.

Gran Tarajal is a lovely little Spanish town. I say Spanish, meaning it's not busy, crowded and touristy like, say, Caletta de Fuste. This means that the range of restaurants is fewer, but they all seem to be good and they're not the sort of places that do all day English breakfast, if you know what I mean. One big thing to be aware of is that the town behind the beach (i.e. where most apartments are) is quite hilly, so if you're not great with mobility, that's an issue. There's a small harbour as well. The town is pretty good for exploring the island, as the driver time to El Cotillo in the north west is about the same as it is too Morro Jable in the south.

Gran Tarajal is not a tourist resort, it's a very Spanish town. No shortage of restaurants on the promenade and 2 good supermarkets. Though our apartment was above the main square by the beach it wasn't too noisy even at weekends it was quiet before midnight. There is a good black sand beach well used by the locals particularly in the evening. We don't hire a car when on Holiday and there are good bus services from Gran Tarajal to much of the island.

This is not an obvious tourist spot - quite possibly why I liked it so much. During the week I only heard non-spanish spoken half a dozen times. One of the things I couldn't find out before I went was how easy it was to get a public bus (guagua) from the airport to Gran Tarajal - 1, 10 and 16 Only one or two an hour, but easy (and cheap) to get around. There's an extra 16 bus not on the current timetable which leaves GT @ 4pm (weekdays) - ideal for the Easyjet flight to LGW. I would definitely recommend trying the Parillada de pescado at the restaurant in the port area. It's stuck out on it's own but always seems to be busy both with visiting sailors and locals. Cafe americano generally not so good EXCEPT for the Bar Parada, unless of course you prefer your coffee very watery. Mostly cafe solo is a better option if you like strong coffee. It's a very walkable town and I would happily revisit

Excellent location, right on the beach, a fully equipped, very clean apartment. Beautiful beach, not crowded with fine sand. Nearby, many restaurants with very diverse food. From Gran Tarajal you can easily reach Tarajalejo, Giniginamar or Las Playitas, beautiful places that are worth visiting. A pleasant surprise, both the apartment and the town. I can't wait to come back next year. Many thanks and greetings to the host.

The apartment was incredibly clean. All seemed new and with so much care handled. The balcony with the view was amazing. The woman that led us in, was very kind and helpful! It's wonderful to be able to step out of your bed and in 5 minutes have a dive in a smooth sea and than have the most tasty croissants just there. People were all so kind in Gran Tarajal. We surely come back!

I have to note that the owner of hotel prepared 2 bottles of water, it was very handy after a long trip. It was free parking just in front of hotel, which is very good. The contact person responded fast and in a very nice manner. I have got a gift for Christmas night from the hotel that was beyond the expectation!

This was exactly as described - simple, everything you'd expect in a non-touristy pension, and kept really clean. Great to have a fridge/freezer. Super friendly staff. Really close to the centre of Gran Tarajal, the Panaderia, the Port and the Beach
