The birthplace of Picasso is as colorful as an artists palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and youll find your place among the youthful square of the old center, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.
There's also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.
A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga 's most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 6 miles from the center of town.
From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you're sure to find the perfect place to stay for your sunny vacation.

Malaga has now reached its carrying capacity as a destination for short term visits. It is hardly possible to walk the main streets during the peak hours, being congested with tour groups. 10 years ago it was a pleasant city, but not a mass tourist destination. It is not yet as crowded as Dubrovnik or Venice, but it is quickly moving that way. Having said that it is a safe, good value for money destination with amazing food, friendly people and varied night life. It has great beaches, and with a little effort and thought one can get out of the main tourist areas and enjoy relatively genuine Spanish day to day life.It is a great place to get away from the horrible north European weather in autumn and winetr.

The city has a lovely old town with loads of shops and bars. There is the staple hop on hop off which was enjoyable. The marina is very nice , however the prices reflect this but that is me just being picky.

There’s lots to see, many accessible via public transport or on foot. The city bus service is inexpensive, especially if users get a multi trip card. The buses connect well with an excellent train system towards the resorts and beaches to the west and there is a good long distance bus provision. It’s particularly easy to get a 270km/h train to Cordoba for the day.
The restaurants are good, plentiful and not too expensive. Try a grilled fish or two at the beach of El Palo, a good contrast to the busy city.

Although we were there at the end of September, it was still very busy and touristy. However, the beauty, the weather, how walkable it is and the many different places to enjoy make up for the amounts of people. There were 4-5 cruise ships docked at Malaga during our stay.
We loved the beach, the walking areas, the weather and the many restaurants available. Wish it wasn't so crowded with tourists and we could see more how the locals live, but will return to Malaga.

To me Málaga is a vibrant and wonderful city.
To me Málaga is a vibrant and wonderful city. Safe and brilliant to navigate. Just keep your head on your shoulders when it comes to pickpockets in the center. This city has a mixture of young and old, locals and tourists. Fabulous food and a lot of places are easy to reach on foot. Public transport is easy to figure out.

Málaga is a big city on Costa del Sol.
Málaga is a big city on Costa del Sol. It's one of the sunniest places in Europe so if you're a summer person like me, you're gonna love it.
Old centre is packed with historical building and monuments, such as Cathedral or Roman amphitheater. There are two fortresses in Málaga - Alcazaba and Gibralfaro. From Gibralfaro there is a beautiful view to the whole city and beyond, however, it's not accessible for wheelchair users.
The rest of the city is accessible, though. Lowered curbs and tiled paths are very comfortable for a wheelchairs.
You can find plenty of cafés, bars, restaurants, tabernas and tapas places in Málaga and they're (mostly) very good. Also, don't miss beaches. I'd recommend Playa de Misericordia over Malagueta, because it's less crowded.
Very nice and quiet apartment in an Aparthotel in the beautiful Soho-district. Only a 5 minute walk to Malaga’s old town. Restaurants, a market and bakery nearby.
Very easy to get into the apartment when we arrived after midnight from the airport. Before arriving they send us codes that unlock the main door to the building and the door to the apartment. The reception is open every day from 11-19, and the staff is very helpful. Thank you for a very nice stay!
