United KingdomCan Garay was a real find. If anything, the pictures don't do it justice. This period property is in a marvellous location for exploring La Garratoxa and surrounding areas. Sophie was a friendly and attentive host and the kitchen and wine offer as based on local cuisine which was just what we were looking for. We hope that we can one day return. The architecture and interior detail was authentic and delightful.

Rupit is tiny.
Rupit is tiny. One main street which is wide enough for one car. Herein lies its charm, which exceeded my expectations. This may be the tiniest village I have ever stayed in. Had we more time, we would have gone on some of the hiking trails. Sadly, we only had one night.

Rupit is a rustic & beautiful village, with cobbled streets and staircases, abd surrounded by natural beauty. The people are very kind & friendly. The restaurants and the couple of local shops are pretty. The hiking trails are lovely.
We did a lovely walk to & along the stream downstairs after crossing the foot over bridge. We hiked up to the hermitage. The entire walk was pretty, very green, dotted with small flowers. We spotted many butterflies, too.

Quaint medieval village nestled in the rolling hills of...
Quaint medieval village nestled in the rolling hills of Catalunya. They do not allow visitor automobile traffic in the village. You must park in a public parking lot for 3EURO per day and walk in to the village. It was about a 5 min walk from the parking lot to the hotel we stayed at and would recommend, Hotel Hostal Estrella. I would NOT recommend Rupit for anyone who has mobility issues. There is a bit of walking to get to the hotel and there are plenty of inclines to pass over while you walk around the village. But if you enjoy walking, it is the place for you. The village offers a glimpse of a typical medieval village in northern Spain. They light up the major sights, the church, the castle ruins, etc during the evenings, so it is very picturesque. It is also great as a base for hiking. They have a trail leading from the town center to a waterfall and a beautiful valley that takes only about 2 hours from start to finish. And from the village there are other beautiful villages to explore about 20-30 mins drive.

The hotel location is simply stunning. The view from the room and public areas is breathtaking. The hotel itself is newly renovated very tastefully. Quality breakfast with fine attention to details. Judith's hospitality is extremely pleasant.

Former family home which was converted to a guest house. Location at the newer end of Rupit was very convenient. Option to use kitchen was helpful as all restaurants in the town were closed on a Monday night.
