Lovely by the river. Quite a few interesting shops. Make sure you take the time to visit the old town.....follow the camin o for a while to the narrow streets and more interesting bars and restaurants.
I had become sick while walking the Camino de Santiago, and had to lay low for a couple of days. It was right before Easter, and many places were closed. It was also quite cold, and somewhat rainy, so i didn’t get out much. Was not even in the Pilgrim part of town, but near the bus station. Can’t really say that I “saw” Sarria.
Sarria has some lovely sights. The thing you need to be aware of we found was an unsavoury character who kept wandering the town obviously looking for some unsuspecting tourist to rob. This made us very uneasy.
As I was only staying for one night as I was walking the Camino it's not easy to comment but for the time I was there I did find plenty of places to eat, it has a bus and railway station not to far from the main throughfare
Nicer than I expected . The modern riverside development is very pleasant and public pool and park are with a visit on a sunny afternoon . Plenty of shops and facilities . Old town up the hill is interesting . A good place to start your Camino journey .
Close to the Camino and a welcome spot. Quiet and comfortable.
