The apartments are amazing! Very modern, clean, warm and comfortable. Sauna, fireplace, cloth dryer, fully equipped kitchen with all cleaning supplies- which is usually rare and have to be bought by yourself. I was impressed. And I travel a lot. This resort has a lot to offer, swimming pool, bowling, ski rental, restaurant. We were mostly outside but there is enough to do. Ski buses and taxis are nearby which is very convenient. Overall this is a very good place to stay if you don’t want to go skiing. If skiing is a major goal then I would recommend Ruka.

We booked a guide that we recommend.

We booked a guide that we recommend. She took us on an interesting tour about war history in the area, especially the Salpa line. The relationship to Russia and Germany are complicated and interesting. She also showed us a pretty rapid and provided a nice picknick with Finnish snacks. It's been a long time since my previous visit.

It's been a long time since my previous visit. Excellent pizza at 'Kotipizza' franchise! And a lovely lunch at Ravintola Talonpöytä. But all the shops and 'outlets' were overpriced and the shops overall were a big dissappointment. Better to concentrate on food and nature!

Kuusamo is a nice place, but the accommodation does not meet...

Kuusamo is a nice place, but the accommodation does not meet today's accommodation requirements. Only the air heat pump was good. A stuffy, dog-hairy apartment. We would not have rented it if we had known the standard of the apartment. We had to leave after 2 nights. Allergy symptoms were severe.

An old, familiar municipality, but one that is constantly...

An old, familiar municipality, but one that is constantly developing. The Karhuntassu Tourist and Cultural Center has a good display of the history of Kuusamo, the Hannu Hautala photo gallery, etc. - the presentations are all very interesting and impressive, good videos - you could have spent a whole day at the site.

There are not many restaurants & eateries available on...

There are not many restaurants & eateries available on Monday or Tuesday evenings. And the few places that do close their doors really early. The scenery and walking trails are pleasant. Reindeer in the center of Asmu are nice walking company.

I've been to Kuusamo maybe 15 times. Most times in winter. I remember the ex. Kuusamohotel's Olli bar, Ruka's Zone and, oh yeah, also the great ski trips in the center of Kuusamo, Tropiikki and Ruka.

Being close to the nature, sauna, the snow and the Christmas tree with string lights right by the house + the snow was cleaned regularly. The forest and the lake were magic and got to see the husky rides on the frozen lake passing by our house. A place to return. Not far from Kuusamo airport. Dog friendly. It is definitely a place for a longer stay.
