You can have a taste of everything arctic. We were surprised by the size of the town and had an image of a much smaller place before we arrived. Transport was easy but recommend visiting Tourist information centres before venturing too far.
Our tour company Nordic Unique Travels excelled with their service. There are many but this was the one that we chose. We enjoyed Dog and Reindeer sledding and Santa’s village. The zoo didn’t meet our expectations.
The Arktikum is well worth a visit and the cafe there has the world’s best fried chicken. Recommend a visit if museums are your thing. The building is unique.
We are a retired couple and needed numerous coffees to recharge our batteries, and there are no shortage of these
The inner city is very modern but prices of goods takes a bit of getting your head around. It’s not cheap

Rovaniemi is quite an expensive place to visit.
Rovaniemi is quite an expensive place to visit. Besides the village of Santa Claus, we have visited SnowGlow Winter Park at the stadium (EUR 28 per person) and the Angry Birds themed playground (free). Both of these attractions were pretty good. While tickets to SnowGlow Winter Park might seem rather expensive, you get a free ride on a snowmobile and free mini-game with some toys as prizes. Angry Birds playground is actually larger than photos on Google Maps might suggest. If you are visiting with a kid of suitable age, make sure to go there as it is completely free.

Great place especially to see Santa.
Great place especially to see Santa. Buses aren’t that easy to navigate as the times are only stated from the train station and santas village all other stops you have to guess when it will turn up between those times.

It's a small city right in the middle of Finnland's Lapland.
It's a small city right in the middle of Finnland's Lapland. Good for chasing the aurora borealis. Santa claus village is a nice place to visit and spend some time too. People are very friendly and willing to help if you need. Be sure to visit the local museum (Arktikum) to learn more about the city's history.
I guess one week is a perfect time to be sure to watch the auroras (because you will depend on the weather conditions) and get to know the city well between these tours

It's a nice small town primarily for tourism.
It's a nice small town primarily for tourism.
It's beautiful and more like an entry point to the artic circle. Public transportation is unreliable so either rent a car or hire a taxi to go around. Also, tours can be expensive depending on the season. Last thing, if you are visiting santa clause village. Do not book any husky or reindeer ride in advance online, it's better to buy tickets directly and it's much cheaper than online.

Rovaniemi is a place you need to visit.
Rovaniemi is a place you need to visit. We had fun chasing the Auroras. And of course no one comes to Rovaniemi without visiting the Sanata Claus Village, home of Santa Claus.
It was a shame that I could not book husky rides as I was too late booking it.
We will definitely come back.

The location was perfect. 10 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Rovaniemi, 10 minutes from Santa claus village. The cabins are perfect, all the facilities you need - kitchen for preparing meals, a fireplace and all the materials needed. The sauna is fantastic and in a really nice setting. Paula is brilliant, friendly and really helpful. She gave us great information before and during our visit and thanks to her we saw the northern lights right outside our cabin over the picturesque lake. Fantastic all around.
We were arriving Rovaniemi early as we planed, but the hotel still allow us to checkin even before the regular time.
They also provide microwave in room. Location also good, only 6 or 7 minutes to railway station, and 2 minutes to bus station to santa village.
Great hotel in the middle of Rovaniemi. Comfy beds and all helpful team. Parking free of charge. One of the best breakfast buffets we ever experienced. We have been staying here for the fourth time and will always gladly return.
Beautiful spot , 20 minutes from Rovaniemi you can really feel connected with the nature around. At night you can enjoy a jacuzzi and sauna under Lapland sky. Enjoy the sunset and sunrise from your igloo on the lake.
