The best trip I've been on so far! Incredible pictures, wild nature and lots of snow. There are many activities that one can do, (such as a trip to see the northern lights, a reindeer ride, a visit to the Santa Claus Village, a visit to Ranua Zoo etc.), from which you get very good experiences. The scenery is breathtaking!
It's a nice place, clean and peaceful, but at the same time quite dull; not much to do, especially The Santa's Village experience, where the lack of enthusiasm was evident. Overall, I think if your kids are over 8-9, they will not enjoy it as expected, and four days there would be more than enough. We booked for seven days and ended up renting a car to travel all over Lapand to make the trip worthwhile, yet the nearby towns (2 to 4 hours from Rovaniemi) were even more boring. Lastly, if you are not a McDonald's fan, you will become one in this place, as the cuisine is not exactly one of Finns' best-developed skills.
This is a very commercial city, which gives you a touristy version of the Nordic culture. I love the cold and Nordic nature, so it was absolutely wonderful to visit and get a taste of what the great north has to offer.
The best is Santa Claus village, authentic and beautiful place. If you have doubts between Santa Village and Santa Park, I personally will go back two days to Santa’s Village and not going to Santa Park, as this one is very commercial place, boring elf’s school and awful food, it is good that it’s under the cave so it’s warm and cosy but if you only can go to one and you want a really Christmas tale, I will go to Santa Claus Village.
Small City. The main point is the Santa Claus Village. It`s necessary 2 days fo enjoy completely the Village and 2 days to envoy any Resort that you choose. Try the local food is a nice and different expirience. Do the sauna, it`s relaxing and reset your problems.
It's a nice, small town and I think 3 night stay was the perfect choice for us. We wanted to visit Santa Village for the Christmas opening celebration, Santa Park visit. We visit Lapland before and we did all the other experiences like husky, raindeer and snowmobile rides. If you want to do those things you might need to stay longer. We had a lovely time as it wasn't very crowded.
Great hotel for a stop over as our flight was late into Finland. The room and bathroom was very clean, very quiet and comfortable. Overall I was impressed with how cheap it was and how well maintained the hotel was. Really good location - we paid 7 Euros for a bus from the airport which dropped us off right outside the hotel, very near to restaurants so we could go and have some food after a long day. Reception were very helpful and the breakfast was busy, but well managed and a good choice.
Rovaniemi
The staff at the hotel were so lovely - friendly, welcoming, and really helpful in giving legitimate recommendations to navigate the city (which can be kind of touristy). It was nice walking in everyday and seeing them! The sauna was amazing. We privately booked in one night and it was great. It was also so nice to have a kitchen on our floor. Instead of eating out for a few meals we just grabbed some groceries and made our own food which was nice to switch it up and save some cash.
The hotel rooms were clean, and the corridor was quiet, which enabled us to enjoy a peaceful night rest. The only problem we had was the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms, and because we went on a hot summer day, the heat was pretty unbearable. However, when we called the hotel management about our situation, they brought a table fan to our room and advised that we open the big windows for more air. Overall, a wonderful experience, with a lovely breakfast and beautiful staff.
Rovaniemi
Beautiful city centre hotel. Right in the heart of Rovaniemi. Location was excellent. Cosy little apartment. Has everything you need. Owner was very responsive with messages. Bed has a memory foam mattress which was very comfortable. Would recommend for a couple. Decor was fabulous.
The staff was very friendly and shared with us some gems. The aurora suit was really nice. The hotel has free sleds to take. The hotel is surrounded by the forest and you can see reindeers rights outside of the hotel. Overall was a good experience!
Rovaniemi
studio was warm but very far from city center, no breakfast facility and taxi fare is too high to go anywhere around. Many tour companies did not provide pickup and drop off from hotel saying it’s far from city.
It's very beautiful and best place to stay at Rovaniemi. We were able to enjoy all the adventure at the resort. Also on bonus we got Northern lights to see from the room.
Rovaniemi
Nice and Clean Place. I would recommend staying here if you’re visiting Rovaniemi, Finland. I would come back to stay here when I visit lapland again.
Seriously hippest hotel I ever stayed out. My room was coolest with the lighting and feel and decor and walk in closet
