Sigatoka is a bustling market town full of colorful sights and smells. It makes a fun day trip to see the municipal produce, crafts and spice market. We avoided the retail department stores where the tourist buses go, and found lots of interesting little shops. Don’t miss Raj’s Curry House for an exceptional lunch. Walk along the river is scenic.
sigatoka is a great place to experience the Fijian life, we visited the supermarkets, the markets were great, bought lots of fresh food from there. The pineapples were the sweetest I’ve ever tasted.
Local markets a must see, cheap local bus fares FJD$3 to Maui Bay from city, friendly people, a few restaurants to choose from, Chineese, Indian and a locally owned one as well. We ate at Chineese restaurant and found it to be very nice. All spirits at bottle shop very expensive FJD$169 for Jonny Walker Red Jim Beam and Vodka, local beer is cheap. Town is easy to walk around, try getting the bus as local taxi drivers are a bit dodgy on quoting fares, make sure you ask a few drivers a rate before you decide.
Very central and easy to get to local attractions. Highly recommend the Kula Eco Park for families and nature lovers (we caught buses there and had a delicious lunch). Must do is Natadola Beach which is just up the road. We stayed at Gecko's Resort (Cuvu Beach) other resorts closer to Suva are a long way from Nadi Airport. It's close enough to Denerau for Island day trips. Visit local villages and spend your money there rather in the over priced resorts (where it all goes offshore). Fijians main source of income is tourism so please support them.
- I just loved the food and the staff who were so friendly. - Just a suggestion, if the rooms to be more family friendly for the railings in the room to be more closer together just to be safe for the kids.
very easy to get round sigatoka from buses to taxi to hitching a ride.....we ate at raj indian restaurant might not look good from street but worth it!!! Food great prices awesome be sure to go through takeaway section out to back. Always a nice snack and iced mocha at cuppa bula in tapoos in sigatoka town !! Very clean great chef and staff are wonderful... also just opened was a chichen shop and shop and save supermarket!! great value for chicken chips and salad and the supermarket prices are really great at shop and save next time will buy more stuff there rather than take it with me! “Superb food, very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and very pleasant grounds with some interesting Fijian touches such as bures and displays.”
“The hosts are very helpful and the villas are very well maintained.”
“Friendly staff and access to The Fijian resort”
“The Fijian people are wonderful and really enjoyed our children. We enjoyed our experience. The Fijian staff were genuine, while the Indian staff were quite rude and arrogant.”
“A small resort with large interconnecting rooms that are perfect for a family. Lovely people that will quickly become your friends. Very clean and tidy with good facilities at no extra cost. The bikes were a bonus – we spent a lot of time in the local villages where our kids made new buddies. The location is great if you want to see more of Fiji than just the grounds of a large resort. A good spot to have a hire car or just catch buses for a $1 at the end of the drive (running every 15 minutes).”
